"Building a semi permanent house has been my ambition. I plan to buy iron sheets, timber, nails, cement, sand and pay labor for building my house when I get this transfer. This grass thatched house is too small and leaking. My children often fall sick due to poor sanitation especially during rainy season and this makes me spend more time and money on treatment for my children. "

"I have a plan of buying a cow because I know it will give birth in the future and at the end of the day the number will increase. I will also have a chance to re-sell them and make profits and use the profits for other purposes."

"I plan to start a small scale business of buying second hand clothes and re-selling in the market area for purposes of generating profits for me. I once tried doing this business before but it collapsed because I had so much financial needs that exceeded the profits I made by then. I now want to revive the business in order to earn more money because I believe I am more settled right now and I am also more wise than how I was before in managing my business. The money generated from the business will be used to buy food for the family and also sort other family financial needs so that I will not have to rely so much on the cash transfers from Give Directly."

"I woke up at 6 am as obvious switched on my phone, Immediately my phone beeped thrice, I checked the message and I could not believe what I saw and checked again, "you have received 55000 KES from GD." I bought airtime so that I confirm if I had the money in my mpesa as the message states. I confirmed and called my wife that I had received money from GD. I went to my mother's house due to a lot of excitement to show her the message. She was also very happy for me. I went back to my house, prepared my self and went to the mpesa agent to withdraw the money. I did shopping both for my mother and wife. Mainly foodstuffs, because we did not have food in the house at that time, came back home and later planned on how to spend the remaining amount."

received a $22 eighth payment.
"In the next six months, I want to ensure that school fees balance for my children both in primary and secondary school is paid in time so that I do away with the tradition of my children being sent home from school. I want them to study in peace because out of this, they will be able to pass their examinations unlike before when their performances were affected because they were on and off school for fees."

" My husband signed to be a loan guarantor to one of his friends two years ago in a sacco yet the friend failed to pay back the loan. Due to this, my husband was sermon and told to pay the loan on his behalf. This has affected us as a family since he uses a half of his daily earnings for the loan payback. I am worried since i always ask myself when this will come to an end so that he can in turn focus on family matters alone. "

"As a business woman, my biggest worry remains selling on credit. Some customers buy on credit and would fail to pay even for four months yet I have to pay loans with accrued interest every month. This compels me to sometimes involve the police to have the debts paid causing ugly scenes. The biggest hardship I have faced is therefore management of bad debts."

"I am a casual laborer, I have to do a lot of hard work to at least to see my family have something on the table. Sometimes I do not get much which hurts me a lot that is why after GiveDirectly came to my aid and gave me some money that I spent building my house that was also not giving me peace, the money I have been saving for that purpose is now going to business. I have saved alot and still saving more for this. This will definately change my life in the next six months. More profits and a comfortable sustainable life for my family."

"I have been aspiring to buy high yielding dairy cattle. Our land does not suppprt crop farming but animal keeping does well here. The milk that will be obtained from the dairy cattle will act as a source of income.I say this because currently, there is a high milk demand in our town. Again,my household will be assured of a near consistent supply of milk. Therefore, receiving this money will mean that I will buy some dairy cattle for my household."
