How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I could not have received the transfer I could not have managed to invest in a lager scale farming as i did by hiring tractor to till my land using give directly's money, I could have just in used my own hand and till a very small portion. But now I am very happy I have managed to invest in a larger scale farming and sure of getting enough produce.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
My opinion give directly did very well by giving less fortune support and not having people who are a better off. They also did very well by registering most of the menu in the households being that the man is the head of the house and he is a position to make wise decision compared to wife.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to buy hire tractor to cultivating my farm. I thought of hiring a tractor because I have been having difficult time when it comes to plough season because I had to use my own hand to till my land. This was very hectic and tiresome since the land is too big that I could not managed to till the whole of it. I was tilling very small peace of land and this was leading to low yield that could not sustain my family i am very happy because I managed to hire tractor and planted a very big land where i will get enough produce that will sustain me with my family. I also spent the transfer to buy cow as my long term investment since it mature it will reproduced and I will get milk out of it for my consumption and even sell to the community and get money for my family up keep. The remaining balance I spent to buy food for my family consumption and also very decent clothes from my children being that they did not have any decent cloth to put on when going for a faction or a visit.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I have gotten my dream house which I never knew I would have. At the moment I am at peace staying in an iron sheet house and now the expenses I used to incur on renovating the grassed thatched house or fetching for grass. I now spend on cultivating my farm on time hence I am certain of enough yield to feed on with my family members comfortably. My neighbours who looked down upon me are astonished by the drastic developments that I have done.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was in the morning when I was at my farm with my wife preparing suddenly an alert rang in my phone and upon looking into it. I didn't believe my eyes it was the transfer from GiveDirectly's, I couldn't hide the joy and starting smiling. I called my wife and informed her of the good new and she rejoiced with songs of praising God for the unexpected blessing. We left that day work and went home to plan on how we were going to spend the money.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Before GiveDirectly came to my village I was staying in a grassed thatched house which was leaky and on the dry season, I would walk to far villages in search for grass which was strenuous because I got sunburn and my foot would ache as well. I spent the larger part of my first transfer to buy building materials such as iron sheets to building a decent semi-permanent house and now I am a proud man since I have achieved my goal which seemed impossible. Previously, the odd jobs I used to do I was paid meagre income that couldn't enable me to pursue this dream. The remaining transfer I spent on planting sugar cane and buy food for my family members consumption.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Building a semi permanent house has been my ambition. I plan to buy iron sheets, timber, nails, cement, sand and pay labor for building my house when I get this transfer. This grass thatched house is too small and leaking. My children often fall sick due to poor sanitation especially during rainy season and this makes me spend more time and money on treatment for my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening after work. My day starts and ends with weeding /cutting sugar cane which is a very tedious task. It is only in the evening when I can have time with my family and share our evening meals together.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of stable source of income. I am a casual worker in the sugar cane plantation farms. We do not have work every day, sometimes I do go without having done any payable work. This means my family may also go without food.
