What does receiving this money mean to you?
As a single mother,I used to engage in farming until three years ago when I diversified to hawking handbags, shoes, utensils and ready made clothes. To run this business well, I depend on loans from self help group in Jomvu because there are no such groups in my locality. This has made it exorbitant for me in terms of transport cost to attend the meetings and loan interest. Receiving this money will help me clear the outstanding loan balance and have the adequate working capital for my business.I will be self reliant and will remain in the self help group just for merry go round but not for loans.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the morning when all my family members wake up in good health. The happiness is derived from the fact that some of my children will assist in weeding and fencing the farm, others will cook and clean the house while the rest will take the goats for grazing in the fields. This gives me the freedom to concentrate on hawking without any worries unlike when some are unwell and I am forced to cancel my business activities.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
As a business woman, my biggest worry remains selling on credit. Some customers buy on credit and would fail to pay even for four months yet I have to pay loans with accrued interest every month. This compels me to sometimes involve the police to have the debts paid causing ugly scenes. The biggest hardship I have faced is therefore management of bad debts.
