Rose
received a $523 second payment.
"My life is different because I was able to settle college and school fees to my children. Had I not received this transfer, my daughter would have taken long time to graduate and the younger one would not have joined high school because I had used all my savings to buy medication to their father who is currently struggling with sickness."

Joseah
received a $542 initial payment.
"Before GiveDirectly came to my village, I used to live a life full of worries on how to get money to pay for my children's education. I thank God because all this is in the past now since I was able to pay school fees for both first and second term for my child who is in high school. I am now happy that I have few arrears to clear before the end of this year and I am sure that I will have paid them by the end of March. This leaves me a stress-free parent this year and so far, this is the biggest difference the transfers has brought into my life."

Benard
received a $542 second payment.
"My life is different comparing with who I was in the past when I worked as a casual laborer in my neighbor's farm. I am now my own boss and carrying out my duties without supervision.
My household's lifestyle has also improved because we can take dietary meals which was not the case in the recent past."

Caroline
received a $523 second payment.
"My life is currently different because I no longer depend on daily income from casual work in rich neighbors coffee farm. I bought a motorbike which has enabled my husband to venture into bodaboda business which is now earning the family income. My daughter who was almost dropping out of school had her fees settled. Had it not for this transfer, my daughter would have ended up dropping out of school and getting into early marriage as it is the common practice among the poor families in my community. I am now happy since I believe she will finish her studies and become a dependent member of my family. Building a new house gave us a lot of comfort and peace of mind. We no longer live with our children in the same room because our children now have their own room a factor that has created a lot of happiness in our family."

Jeniffer
received a $542 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I can now save the money which I would otherwise use in buying water and the ones I get from the sale of milk unlike before when I only used to spend them. This is because I was able to connect piped water and my cattle are now get enough water daily. This has led to increased milk production and I can now sell some of them and get some money to use."
