Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before GiveDirectly came to my village, I used to live a life full of worries on how to get money to pay for my children's education. I thank God because all this is in the past now since I was able to pay school fees for both first and second term for my child who is in high school. I am now happy that I have few arrears to clear before the end of this year and I am sure that I will have paid them by the end of March. This leaves me a stress-free parent this year and so far, this is the biggest difference the transfers has brought into my life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received a message indicating that I had received some money from GiveDirectys at a time when my life was full of thoughts of how to get money when the school opens. At that instant, I became so happy and I prayed to thank God for His constant mercies and blessings on my family. This money revived my lost hope of paying school fees for my child when the school opens.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I built my house one year ago and since then, I had not been able to buy some windows even the wooden ones and we were forced to use some clothes to cover them at night. I was also having a bench in my living room for people to sit on and this is not comfortable sitting on. When I received my first transfers, I decided to use part of it in buying some seats and windows. I used the remaining amount in paying part of this years school fees for my child so that I can have ample time to look for the remaining amount.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money is going to greatly transform my life.I have always wanted to venture into large scale poultry farming,I have already build a large poultry unit and these transfers are going to help me buy many hens and their feeds.I am projecting to have over 50 layers which on a good day I will be able to roughly earn over 500 Kenya shillings which is enough to meet my family's daily needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part my day is in the morning. My day usually entails doing casual jobs mostly in other people's farms inorder to get payment at the end of the day. morning is the best part since i usually receive calls to go do these jobs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Raising my chidren's school fees is the biggest hardship I have faced in my life.I have 8 children 2 in primary school,4 in secondary and 2 completed secondary waiting to joining college.I usually depend on jobs like digging, weeding and fencing other people's farms, this brings little earnings that are barely enough to pay my chidren's school fees, last year I even resorted to selling part of my land to raise their school fees. This has been a tall order and is giving me sleepless nights.
