"I would like to build a new house because I feel the one I have now, is not the kind of a house I should have. It is small which cannot accommodate my family well. My children have to go to my neighbour's house to sleep and the roof is leaking though not much. I would want to save the transfers I get from GD to buy building materials for building a new house."

"Before I started receiving these transfers from Give Directly, I used to struggle through casual work and farming to make ends meet. My casual work would earn me very little which would support me on food mostly. I would work hard during planting seasons but without fertilizers, my harvest has just been the little I get of 3-4 sacks. When I received this transfer and bought fertilizers and hybrid seeds, I had a good harvest. In fact, the best in my life since I started farming. I managed to get 8 sacks of maize which was a miracle to me. I feel my hard work has been repaid with the help of Give Directly."

"Due to my health condition which has not been impressive, my husband had been struggling alot to make the ends meet as far as the school fees payment for our children is concern. He had been working hard on the casual labour and also in our farm to ensure that we get something to eat and surplus to use as school fees. This had not been enough since our children have been spending most of their study time at home after being sent to collect school fees. In most cases, weeks may pass without us gettibg the required amount to send them back. Receiving this money to us means that our children will at least start enjoying a full term in school without having been send home to collect the areas. We really thank GiveDirectly for the great thought to help us."

"Sitting at home all day after the usual garden work I have been doing have been so boring to me. I have always felt that I am not contributing to the development and creation of our wealth as a household since the little subsistence farming I have been practising has not been that productive due to the long spells of droughts. I always watch helplessly as my children are being sent out of school when they have not cleared their school fees which have beeb givibg me a conviction that I have a role to play but it has really been hard since I have never gotten more than 2000 KES at once since I got married. That has really been my biggest worry since on the other side my husband is working hard on his projects which have kept us going. "
