How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I could not have received the money I could not have managed to buy cow, but now I am a very happy because I now have my own cow where I will be getting milk from and so i will not spent money to buy milk from my neighbors as I am doing
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did a very good think by giving people mobile phone because people like us have been longing to have a phone but we could not afford. They were also true to their words because they gave us money as they had promised.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to buy solar system for lighting my house because I have been admiring houses with electricity and solar, being that I could not afford to connect electricity I decided to buy solar. Connecting solar has enabled my children carryout their studies with ease compared to when they were using tin lump which was affecting their eyes and they were also experiencing frequent flue because of the smoke from the tin lump.It was also very expensive to buy paraffin each and every time. The tin lump had so many challenges making it inconvenient because sometimes it run out of parrafin while they were still studying. I also spent the transfer to buy two dairy cows as my future investment. I thought of buying dairy cow as a way of investment since I am planning to sell the calve after the reproduction and spend the money to pay school fee for my children . I will also get milk from it for my consumption and also sell some to the near by market and save the money for my children. Since my children are still very young, they are in primary school and very soon they will be joining secondary school and this will help me pay their fee with ease. The remaining balance I spent to buy furniture since I did not have enough furniture to seat on mostly when I have visitors.
