"My biggest worry is educating my children. I am a window with two children in university and college. It's difficult paying their school fees. I depend on casual labour to support them and also through selling my livestock. This has led me to loose most of my cattle. I now have only 6 cows. It's really difficult educating children, but it also gives them a better future."

"Since I'm single and not married with children, I'm faced with so many challenges. However, the greatest challenge I'm facing currently is providing for my small family. I depend on casual work which does not give me enough money to meet all the needs I have. It saddens me so much whenever my children don't get what they want."

"My greatest challenge is the lack of school fees for my son Kangor Komen. Since I depend on casual work to look for money, paying for his school fees and providing for his siblings has been my greatest challenge."

"The main challenge we are facing currently is a lack of money. We depend solely on casual work which we get occasionally. Since my husband is deaf this makes it even more difficult for me and my family."

"Currently, we are facing a lot of challenges. One of the most pressing challenges is school fees. We have four children who are in different levels of education whom we pay school fees for. With the current difficult economic conditions, we can barely manage to pay for their school fees."

"My focus within the next year is to purchase a new mattress for my bed. A while ago, I had to dispose of my old mattress, which had become tattered and uncomfortable to sleep on and started using makeshift bedding from pieces of boxes. Currently, the cost of a new mattress that matches the size of the one I got rid of is approximately $60. I am looking forward to enjoying peaceful and restful nights, which boxes cannot provide. Following that, I have a more long-term goal in mind. I aspire to acquire two bulls, which I plan to train for various farming activities, particularly plowing for the upcoming planting seasons. My motivation for this is to avoid a situation similar to what I experienced during the recent planting season when I had to hire a tractor to prepare my land. Unfortunately, at that time, I lacked sufficient funds to settle the debt for the tractor service until the recent cash transfers came to my rescue. By having my bulls and plow, I will be self-sufficient in these agricultural tasks, eliminating the need to hire external services. Additionally, I can even consider renting out the bulls to assist other farmers, thereby generating extra income for myself."

Zawadi
received a $24 fourteenth payment.
"I am presently undergoing medical treatment and frequent check-ups due to my diagnosis of ulcers. This health condition has rendered me unable to work, and I have come to rely on my sons for support. However, they often struggle to provide for me, as they have larger families to care for. Participating in this program has been an enormous relief, as it has alleviated my struggle to access necessary medical treatment. My primary goal is to ensure that I can receive timely medical care and afford a balanced diet as recommended by my doctor. Achieving this would have been a significant challenge for me, but thanks to the financial support I've received, accessing medical treatment has become more manageable. I am also considering the prospect of purchasing some goats to raise. To facilitate this, I have joined a local savings group where I contribute $10. When my turn comes to receive the money, I plan to use it to buy goats, allow them to reproduce and become valuable assets that I can rely on in times of financial need."

Sidi
received a $24 fourteenth payment.
"My objective is to acquire additional goats to raise on my homestead. In our region, livestock ownership is regarded as a promising venture, and I am eager to build my herd. Ultimately, I plan to sell these animals and embark on a new viable project, like starting a shop. Previously, I primarily engaged in manual labor, specifically charcoal production and sales, which had detrimental effects on my health. After years of this occupation, I now find myself frequently under medical treatment. Given my current lack of a stable income source, I view my growing goat herd as a reliable financial fallback option. At present, I own a total of eighteen goats along with some sheep, which I consider a significant investment. My plan is to buy more livestock with the intention of selling them to start a new income-generating project."

Dama
received a $24 fourteenth payment.
"For many years, my primary means of making a living was through the production and sale of charcoal. However, this livelihood was far from dependable. It demanded considerable physical strength, which, given my age, I am no longer capable of sustaining. Now, faced with the absence of a reliable source of income, I have a plan to secure my financial future: I intend to invest in more goats, raise them, and capitalize on their reproduction to generate income. Currently, I am the proud owner of ten goats and a few cows that I am diligently caring for. These animals provide me with a financial safety net, ready to assist in times of urgent financial need. Additionally, even when the program concludes, I will possess valuable assets to fall back on. To achieve this financial stability and transformation in my life, I am committed to saving a portion of the monthly transfers I receive. This strategy will help me work toward my goal of buying more goats and securing a brighter future for myself."

Chani
received a $360 second payment.
"I spent around $80 of my recent transfer on buying iron sheets, poles, and timber, which were for the addition of one room to my previous house. My family had been growing, and with seven kids, our single room could barely accommodate us all. It had been a relentless struggle to gather the materials, especially since I am their only surviving parent. There were times when I had to seek shelter from neighbors, and the embarrassment was hard to bear. Now, I feel an overwhelming sense of joy and relief as I look at our spacious new house, which can comfortably accommodate all my children. No more embarrassing moments of relying on others for shelter; we finally have a place to call our own. I also used some of the money to pay the school fees of $225 for my six children. Two of them are in secondary school, and the other four are in primary school. As a mother, it brings me immense joy to see them enjoying their time in class and studying without any worries of being sent home due to unpaid fees like before. I even managed to buy them new uniforms since their old ones had become worn and torn. With the remaining amount, I purchased food that lasted us for several days. This was a significant relief since my income mainly comes from my charcoal business, where I earn around $4 a day, and it's often unpredictable. These unconditional cash transfers have truly transformed our lives for the better, providing stability, comfort, and hope for a brighter future."
