Cyrus
received a $360 second payment.
"In our entire family, we have been reliant on my brother's cows for milk production, but it is inconsistent. During dry periods, everyone at home, including my parents, buys milk, which is sometimes expensive and unaffordable. Even though I don't have a family of my own yet, I saw it fitting to invest in livestock by purchasing a heifer worth $200 with the second transfer. While I await the start of my own family, my extended family will benefit from the milk once the heifer calves, reducing milk expenses and bearing offspring that I can sell to serve any emergency needs. I enrolled in the program while still recovering from an injury sustained in a motorcycle accident, which had been my sole source of income. The opportunity to buy another one when I received the second transfer could not pass by. I used the remaining $330, added to the $160 I had in my savings account, to purchase a secondhand motorcycle. It has since proven valuable for offering taxi services within the nearby shopping center. Additionally, I have carpentry skills, so whenever I am not using my motorcycle for work, I engage in carpentry jobs, providing an alternative source of income."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly has commendably upheld its commitment to delivering the transfers as promised and within the stipulated timelines. I have received all the transfers as assured, and the impact is visible within my community. Many individuals have seized the opportunity to invest in various income-generating activities, including dairy farming, entrepreneurial ventures, and more.
I am pleased to share that the transfers have allowed me to expand my own business and venture into livestock keeping. These strategic steps are laying a solid foundation for my family's financial security in the future. The positive economic changes brought about by GD's support are not only benefiting individuals but also contributing to the overall upliftment of our community."

"Givedirectly has made a significant positive impact on the living standards in our region. Many people have wisely invested their transfers in ways that are helping them escape poverty. Personally, I am grateful for the opportunity these transfers have provided me. I was able to pay for my children's school fees, which was often a financial challenge for me in the past. Thanks to GD, my children have started school with their fees paid for the first time, and I am deeply appreciative of this support."

Mokiyo
received a $305 third payment.
"In the coming years, my primary focus will be on agriculture. I intend to lease land situated near a river, taking advantage of its water supply for irrigation, given the unpredictability of our rainfall. My plan is to cultivate both maize and millet, with the goal of meeting our domestic food needs and generating income through commercial sales. This agricultural venture will not only ensure that my family has an ample food supply but also enable me to comfortably afford my children's school fees."

Kabibi
received a $24 fourteenth payment.
"Looking ahead, my primary goal is to repair the damaged wall in my house. With the recent rainy season, the mud walls on one side collapsed, leaving a significant hole. I have been slowly working on repairing it, but financial constraints have slowed down the process. However, now that we have had a recent harvest, I am optimistic that I can allocate a significant portion of the incoming cash transfers to secure more building poles and finally seal the large hole in my house. Once the house repairs are underway, I plan to start purchasing goats to add to the two that I already own. This will help me gradually build up a small herd of goats and gain financial security."

Kanze
received a $24 fourteenth payment.
"Currently, my primary focus is directed towards the construction of a new house. The existing house my family occupies is in a dilapidated condition. The roof leaks, allowing rainwater to seep inside and dampen the interior space. Additionally, this structure serves a dual purpose as both a living area and a kitchen. I have held the goal of securing a suitable and comfortable house for my family for quite some time. Unfortunately, my child's illness disrupted this plan, as a substantial portion of the cash transfers had to be allocated towards covering his medical expenses. Furthermore, to provide adequate care for my son during his illness, I had to temporarily suspend my palm wine-selling business. This, in turn, placed additional constraints on my sources of income. However, I am grateful that my son's health has been steadily improving, and I'm now determined to resume my efforts to acquire the necessary building materials. At present, I have managed to acquire eight iron sheets, but I need at least 22 more to complete the construction, in addition to obtaining the required building poles."

Karisa
received a $24 fourteenth payment.
"I plan to continue raising sheep. Currently, I have a total of eight sheep, all of which have been acquired through the cash transfers. Over a decade ago, I lost my job, and since then, I have embraced livestock rearing as my primary source of income. Initially, it was challenging to invest in livestock due to financial constraints. However, with the consistent support of these cash transfers, I have been able to acquire a considerable number of sheep. I aspire to increase this number to 20 in the upcoming years and beyond. I firmly believe that this will create enough wealth to support the education of my five children."
