"I spend the money I received from GiveDirectly to build a better and spacious house for my family. We used to live in a small grass thatched house which was leaking from inside. The rest of the money I paid school fees for my spouse who was pursuing a course at the College. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard. It has enabled us to own a decent house which could not have been possible soon."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a heifer. I buy milk everyday, This is so costly for me because I do not have a continuous source of income. I depend on small scale farming and poultry keeping project to earn an income. The amount of money that I get through this is so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of the family including paying school fees. When my dairy cow reproduce I will no longer buy milk. I will cut the cost of buying milk daily and invest on other projects at home. I had always wished to own a dairy cow but because I didn't had money it was not possible. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has enabled me to own a dairy cow. I have devoted much of my time on this project and I will grow it to another level."

"My life is different than it would have been if I had not received my transfer in that, I was able to construct two two-roomed houses one for my parent and the other for myself and my brothers since used to stay in the same house with our parents. Also, we now have enough food for the family as we used to depend on my father who is temporary casual labour. In some instances, we could go without food or even borrow from our neighbours when my father fails to secure a job."

I have always had the desire to have a comfortable home to my liking but money was not allowing. Hence, my main problem is the need to have a better house than the one I have for storing my produce after harvesting."

"I spent my transfer to educate my child who is in form 2 by clearing his term 1 fees and paying part of his term 2 fees. I save $250 the remaining amount to assist me in paying the school fees and do some shopping for my second child who is about to join secondary school in July. The remaining amount assisted me to buy enough food supply for my family ."
