How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Honestly, I thank God for GD. The program has helped me to do more and live a happy life than before. I have managed to buy new beddings and now I am sleeping on a comfortable place. I have also managed to improve my house and now the house is looking very nice. I have been struggling to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer, hoes and seedlings. I have managed to buy farm inputs and am confident that I will have bumper yield this year.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD is doing very well in developing rural villages. I have seen that most of us have benefited from this program which is very good unlike other NGOs who only focus on few recipients.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The money has been of great help to me. I managed to buy 2 bags of fertilizer and groundnuts seedlings. I also bought materials for my house such as wires, timber and used part of the money to pay a carpenter. I didn't have blackects and I bought beddings such as bed sheets. I also bought Mattress amounting to MK 42 000.
I also bought 8 bags of maize. I have saved part of the money to buy my day to day needs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I started living in this hut two years ago when my former house developed severe cracks and it was about to fall. Since then we have been keeping some funds to build our house. This money now has given us a huge boost to make sure the house is built faster than we anticipated.
The other money will go towards purchasing good beddings, mattress and other basic needs that we lack as a family. My husband clothes were also stolen when we were in the other house. This money has also given us a chance to purchase some clothes for us and the children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
As a woman, it gives me joy to look after my children each day. They are the only companion I have must of the time as my husband is rarely home since he is polygamous.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
This house is very small for us. We had to keep two children at their grandmother's home so as to have some space for the other two children. We just live in it because we have no money to build another one.
