"My dream is to be able to own a dairy cow that will aid in providing milk for the family. Currently we spend $10 on milk each month. A litre is not enough for the whole family but we have to use it for 2 days. Receiving this money will mean that my family gets to own a cow and fresh sufficient milk each day. I will purchase a dairy cow worth $600, then sell the milk and use it for our homes' consumption. The rest of the transfer will be used to purchase fencing materials for our homestead such as poles and wiring, then lastly $100 will be used to buy food and clothing"

"Receiving this money means good shelter for my family of 6 members. I am a widow who has been staying in a house that is almost collapsing. The walls are not finished hence allowing cold to penetrate at night. My children have been in and out of the hospital suffering from dry cough. I am planning to spend 50,000 shillings on the construction so that we can stay comfortable and free from sickness. Other than that, I am will invest the remaining transfer on livestock with the view of selling them in the future so that I can educate my children."

"The biggest hardship that I have faced in my life is poverty. I fail to afford simple things because I depend on piece work (ganyu). My husband is in South Africa to look for greener pastures but to no avail. It is so hard for me to buy proper food and daily needs like soap."

Currently my children are out of school because I can't mange to pay for their school fees, I don't have a job and my husband only depends on casual jobs and the little we get goes for foodstuffs and clothing's. I feel very disturb seeing my children at home and I don't have anything to do. When I receive this money ksh 60,000 will go to school fees and the remaining I will build a house for the children since we are still under one roof."

"The biggest hardship in my life is hunger. This area does not receive normal rainfall so that it affects us in the way that what we harvest is meagre. Hence as poor people we fail to buy food from the markets since prices are also high"

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy a cow. I started my own family about 5 years , yet I don't have a cow. I get milk for household use from my father in-laws cows . Sharing the 3 litres that he gets is not always enough. I rely on my husband to provide for us who works as a security guard. His income can not raise enough to buy a dairy cow. I will use part of the money from GiveDirectly to buy two dairy cows. They will produce milk for my family as well as for sale in order to get some cash for buying foodstuffs."

"It makes me happy that I will receive this transfer because with it I will be able to rent bigger land to cultivate on this coming season because I don't have enough land which results in less than enough yield for my household. Some of it will be used to buy fertilizer to ensure good harvests."
