Theresa
received a $282 initial payment.
"Since I started receiving payment from GiveDirectly, my daily life and that of family has changed for the better. For the passed rainy months, we have been living in total sadness because the roof of our house was leaking badly to the extent that we could preferred sitting outside of the house than inside the house when ever its rains. The whole house would get soak with all our belongings. This caused us serious embarrassment for so long, now with this transfer, we bought zinc, nail, planks and others roofing materials to change the roof from the old thatched and leaking roof to a zinc and better roof. We now go to bed as a happy family not worrying about the roof anymore. For this reason we are grateful to Give Directly."

Hannah
received a $297 second payment.
"Right now I am one of the happiest person in my village. Since I started receiving payment from GiveDirectly, the thought of becoming an employer keeps inspiring me to dream more.
I never thought about buying fishing net and fishing boat before, but with this new transfer I was able to buy net for fishing. With the fish, I will be able to sell to improve the livelihood of my family even after GiveDirectly leaves our town. I'm also thinking on paying someone to cut enough woods so I can be able to make firecoal for sale. Establishing a coal business coupled with purchasing a fishing boat and net has been my newest goal since I received my second transfer from GiveDirectly."
