How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No I don't have any new goals. I'm a business man. I sell provisions from one town to another in a bucket. The business has been moving a bit slow. The house my family and I live in is not in a good condition. The roof of our house is tarsh. Rats live and put holes in it. When it rains our house leaks. I've always been wanting to build a new house. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to do so due to lack of money. I was so excited when I got enrolled on the GiveDirectly program. My dream will come to pass. My family will have a decent home.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly is not doing anything unwell. Through the cash program we will never be poor again. Our lives will get better. My son will have a brighter future our lives will improve.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
God has been so good to us through the GiveDirectly cash program. I'm grateful. Our house has been leaking because the roof is tarsh and rats live in it. Things have been a bit difficult. I have not been able to build a new house or even change the roof. I was overwhelmed when I got enrolled in this program. I was so excited when I received my transfer. Firstly, I used some of my money to pay my son tuition. He has been out of school the past year. Secondly, because of the leakage, I always wanted to change the roof of my house. I used the rest of my transfer to buy zinc and some other materials to do so. My dream of seeing my family live in a decent home will now come to pass.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
For a very long time I've been staying in a two bed room apartment that has become smaller over the years due to my increased family size. However, the house has become smaller and uncomfortable for my family and I. All along by aim was to expand my house by adding additional two bed rooms. This I could not have done because of limited income. Notwithstanding, when I received my transfer, I bought two bundles of zinc and few bags of cement to expand my house. Expanding my house has been my newest goal.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
From my own jugement, GiveDirectly has done everything very well. The effort and process of reaching out to poor people like us is rewarding. We are very fortunate to be part of this life changing opportunity. I think that this Organization is doing everything so well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I've wanted to expand my house by creating additional two rooms. This would provide more space and comfort for my family and I. Hence, when I received my transfer, I bought two bundles of zinc and few bags of cement to expand my house by adding two more rooms.

"I purchased 20 bags of cement to build my house. Like I told you earlier, my living conditions were very bad before. We live in a house that leaks every night rain falls. Getting this money also enabled me to pay my son school fees which had been a serious issue fir me then. It is my hope that tbw remaining money will come for me to build a concrete house in this place. It is actually from mat to mattress i intend to do".

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I receive any cash from your Give Directly, I will build my house and then increase my business and the rest goes to my children schooling.
What is the happiest part of your day?
For the last six months nothing has brought me and my household any joy. If I receive this aid, it will be the most exciting moment for me and my family this year.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major challenge in life is financial difficulty. Since I bought my house materials last year I have not been able to start the process because of financial difficulty.
