"Receiving this money means I will buy cows that will multiply and in the near future, I will be in position to sell some in order to support my children in attaining better education while others multiply. This is an investment that I want to embark on in order to try to fight poverty ans illiteracy. My spouse is struggling with the little salary he earns from his work but it is not sufficient. "

"The biggest hardship that I face is poor accommodation. I sleep in a semi permanent house that has a leaky roof. To make matters worse, I share it with my children in it's small state. That makes privacy limited or not there at all. When it rains, I have to fold my blessings and stand in the position that is not leaking nd by the time I want to sleep, it is already morning. "

"The biggest hardship I face in my life is limited income. I failed to get treatment because I did not have money. The little money that I get through the sale of my cows is put into my grand child's education hence living me in a tabulent situation I looking for more money to cater for next term. The income I receive therefore is not sufficient."

"Inadequate finances is our major challenge as a family. I am a traditional doctor and my husband is a water vendor, both which are not reliable sources of income thus cannot sufficiently meet our needs of food and education for the children. For example, a whole month can go by without me getting any clients and therefore have to rely on my husband who makes around 4 dollars a day, with which we will buy food, pay school fees, pay his rent in Mombasa where he works etc. With all this financial burden, we cannot even afford to repair our roof that was partly blown off by strong winds almost six months ago. "My biggest fear is the frequent droughts in our area. It affects our production of food and dries up our water pans. Suddenly prices of these commodities go up making it extremely difficult for low income earners such as myself to acquire them. Currently, a water jerican that I would buy at 5 shillings now goes for between 40 and 50 shillings. It is embarrassing that I am sometimes forced to go for almost 3 days without taking a bath because I would rather use the little water I can afford to buy for cooking and drinking. "

"Limited finances have been a constant worry in my life especially since I now have to take care of my grandson who is an orphan. The biggest challenge has been paying his school fees which are way higher than what I can afford. I burn charcoal for survival and it does not make me enough money to support his education as well as meet other needs such as food. Currently, he has a fee balance of about 40,000 shillings which I am struggling to pay. "

"My inability to provide adequately for the family and more so for my husband's health care has been the biggest hardship in life. This has resulted from a lack of reliable sources of income and the fact that all responsibilities squarely rests on my shoulder with no one to offer a helping hand. The situation in my household is dire, and every little penny that I earn goes to medical care, leaving other sectors unattended to. Look at the house that I live in for instance; it is already caving in, walls have cracked and the roof is terribly leaking. Every night we sleep not knowing how tomorrow will look like. However, it was a sign of hope when we learned of this cash transfer program. At least husband is going to get the required medical attention. Apart from that, we are going to have a better roof over our heads and our nights will be peaceful unlike at the moment."
