"A decent house is what receiving this money means to me, as at now am living in a tiny, leaking iron-roofed house which can fall anything. I will use my first transfer to construct a good one. Also, am planning to purchase three goats which I will sell at a profit when they multiply. These will change my life for the better."

"I remember vividly well it was around 2 am when I saw the notification from my mobile phone. When I checked it's content, I realized it was an Mpesa message from GiveDirectly informing that I have received my first transfer. I was so glad because I did not believe it would happen at the time of enrollment."

"The new goal is to have a big business premise. The current one is squeezed and I am foreseeing restoking a lot of good which will need a lot of space. Taking care of customer needs means getting many customers which will translate to more income. This is what I what to work on."

"One of my daughters joined university in may this year and will be resuming her second semester next month. I am planning to spend about KES 30,000 of my first transfer to pay her required fees for the said semester. The remaining amount including that of the second transfer is good capital for me to keep livestock for commercial milk production. This is a good investment and store for wealth for my children's education from next year onwards."

"I would like to make an investment for my children's education in future. After much deliberation with my husband, we resolved to invest our first transfer in livestock especially cows. This decision has been informed by a favorable condition for dairy farming to thrive including which is a ready market for our products. Thus receiving this money means I would no longer have to fret about my children's academic and social security. "

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy a dairy cow.I used to have so many cows but when all my children joined secondary school,I was forced to sell them in order to pay their fees.Since then, I have not been able to buy any and therefore there has always been a challenge in terms of getting milk for the family considering the fact that our only source of income is farming."

"I was woken up by a message notification, early in the morning. On checking to confirm, the message was from GiveDirectly informing me that I had received money from them. I could not sleep anymore. I was filled with happiness because my hope of completing the construction of my residential house that had stalled for months was finally revived."

"I have been longing to have a permanent house for so many years but I could not afford to construct one. This is because the income I was getting from my casual jobs was very little. Being a single parent, I was responsible for all the basic needs of my family. After receiving my first transfer, my priority was to build a decent house. I thank God because I managed to construct one and this is the biggest difference in my daily life I can proudly talk about so far. Previously, we used to sleep under a very small hut which was leaking during the rainy seasons. I was never at peace with my children especially when they want to do their school assignments at night. I am now glad since the situation is different now since they can do their assignments and sleep peacefully without any difficulties."

"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have paid a major part of my Higher Education Loans loan. This will be a big relief in my life because the Government has put a notice on those who fail to service their loans. I would not want to be in that list"
