Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is owning the livestock that include two heifers and four goats.I had none at first and if at all I was to buy them at my own cost, then it would have taken years to achieve this. I am thankful to GiveDirectly because it's only through their support that I now boast of owning the assets in terms of livestock. I know they will reproduce and increase in number, from which I will be able to sell them to cater for my financial needs.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was woken up by a message alert on my phone. When I called my helper to check and to confirm who could have sent the message at daybreak, I was filled with happiness on realizing that GiveDirectly had sent money. I thanked them as I celebrated with my family for this money.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent KES 30000 of the transfer to purchase two heifers, and KES 20000 to purchase four goats which I am currently rearing them in my homestead. I am expecting these livestock to reproduce and increase in number so that I can sell the offspring in case of any financial need. I spent the remaining amount to buy foodstuffs and some other household expenses.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means food and water security in my house. I will invest in oxen and an ox plough to expand my farming so I can cover a bigger area when tilling the land and also use modern methods such as planting hybrid seeds to boost my harvest. I will also purchase water storage tanks so I can tap rainwater whenever it rains thus ensuring I do not lack water for use.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Morning is the best part of my day because it is the sign of a new beginning which me brings hope.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest fear is the frequent droughts in our area. It affects our production of food and dries up our water pans. Suddenly prices of these commodities go up making it extremely difficult for low income earners such as myself to acquire them. Currently, a water jerican that I would buy at 5 shillings now goes for between 40 and 50 shillings. It is embarrassing that I am sometimes forced to go for almost 3 days without taking a bath because I would rather use the little water I can afford to buy for cooking and drinking.
