"I spent my transfer on purchasing building poles and stones to improve status of my house by adding another one room because the one I had was small. I also purchased bed and mattress to replace my traditional bed and old sacks which were not comfortable and always brought me backache. This lowered my self-esteem because whenever I received visitor I use to sleep on the floor. I spent the remaining amount to educate my 3 grandchildren and purchased enough food for my family."

"Receiving the first transfer was a great deal of a blessing to our household. We decided to spend part of it on obtaining a heifer and one lactating cow. This was a chance for us to redeem ourselves and get back to the livestock keeping after selling the previous herd to pay school fees for my sons. With the remaining portion, we had other great plans to invest in but my sister-in-law was hospitalized then. Being one of the family members whom most of my younger brothers look up to, I had to stand in and ensure that the admission cost to the hospital was cleared. We are all glad that she is now well even though she is still under medication."

"Since we received the first transfer in our household, a lot has really changed and we are always grateful to look back and see all that we have done with the money. It is still hard for me to imagine the fact that I will not be paying anything towards school fees this term since I managed to clear all that I owed the schools. It is a great time now to work hard and ensure that I work on other projects, try to generate more income which we will in turn add to our savings towards paying other bills ahead."

"Receiving this money means alot to me. This means that my financial difficulties will be eased. If I get the cash grant I will spend it on building a better and proper house as Iam currently staying in a dilapidated one. "I spent part of my first transfer on buying some livestock which includes a dairy worthy of KES 15000. I later bought some building materials which include building materials which include building poles, timber, ropes, and a few pieces of iron sheets. This was for the construction of a new house since the previous one had collapsed a month ago and I used to seek shelter from neighbours and friends for all that time. Also, I paid school fees for my children who just resumed a week ago after the long holiday. With the remaining amount, I bought enough foodstuff for the family."

"In my life I have always desired several things to improve my household with my wife. We have been having plans recently to build a better house and we are now keeping some money from the little opportunities we find. We have vegetable garden that help us to generate some income for household use. I also assist at the nearest health centre as a health worker in minor roles. With the honorarium that I get, I try my best too to take care of my family needs. This money has come at the right time as it will help us build a better house for me and my children. I shall also buy a bicycle which will be crucial in assisting us to be transporting produce easier and also my movement within the village when doing community health work. I am very glad to be enrolled in this program"
