What does receiving this money mean to you?
In my life I have always desired several things to improve my household with my wife. We have been having plans recently to build a better house and we are now keeping some money from the little opportunities we find. We have vegetable garden that help us to generate some income for household use. I also assist at the nearest health centre as a health worker in minor roles. With the honorarium that I get, I try my best too to take care of my family needs. This money has come at the right time as it will help us build a better house for me and my children. I shall also buy a bicycle which will be crucial in assisting us to be transporting produce easier and also my movement within the village when doing community health work. I am very glad to be enrolled in this program
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy when I am in good health each day. This is so as it lets me do every work that I can to make sure my family is well fed. This also extends to my services at the health centre are never compromised and am always happy to assist my fellow villagers.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Staying with my family in a grass thatched house has many challenges. It leaks a lot in rainy season, prone to harmful insects living in the grass and also can be easily blown away by wind. The main challenge of them all is that every year or after six months depending on availability of grass,I am forced to find new grass and thatch again. Since we are many in this village who stay in grass thatched houses, we always scramble for the available grass which sometimes is never enough and we have to travel long distances to get some. Now all is am looking forward to is to have an iron roofed house.
