"Two years ago, I completed a masonry course in a polytechnic institute nearby. To my unpleasant surprise, it has been hard to come by jobs to do. Even worse, I have a 3 month old baby whose mother requires not only food but balanced diet to breastfeed our baby. What has been my biggest worry is not being able to provide for my family especially my wife with food, without which my baby will not grow healthy."

received a $493 second payment.
"My life is now different than how it would have been because I am now hopeful and happier. Through the transfers, I managed to purchase 2 pairs of oxen and three dairy cows. These have been the well thoughtful living assets that I have been yearning to keep in my compound but becasue of my low income, I couldn't afford them. Currently, I hired one of the pair of oxen to my neighbors ata a fee and generate an income. With the other pair, it has been of great help to me becasue I no longer use my hands in ploughing my farm. Also, I am now preparing the farm in time and this assures me if harvesting a lot Apart from that, the oxen have been of great support in fetching water from the dam, I non longer use my hands to carry the jerricans like before. To add to that, the dairy cows are now providing me with milk that is for my family's consumption and commercial purposes."

"I spent KES 33000 of my second transfer on clearing school fees for my children who are in university and secondary school. This has been my dream to pay the fees for a whole term to avoid the distraction but I could not afford it. However I used to pay in bits and sometimes I failed to pay on time and they need up being sent home, I also bought some building materials iron sheets, nails, and timber. This was purposely for the renovation of my house becasue it has an old leaky roof. With the remaing amount of money, I am using I in buying enough foodstuffs for my family."

"My life is different than how it would have been because, through financial help, I was able to build a new house. Previously I used to shelter under a very small house and it could not accommodate some of my children, therefore they had to sleep at their grandmother's house. To add to that, managed to take my daughter to the hospital, she has been complaining of some stomach pains for quite some time but I did not have the required money to seek the medication. However, all I could afford was to buy painkillers which were not helpful at all. After receiving the money, we had to see a doctor and she was admitted for a whole month. Currently, she is in the process of healing though she still complains but not like before. Also since my spouse abandoned me for months now, the money has been helping me in catering for the family's daily bread becasue I am jobless. If were not for this organization I had no idea how life would have been"

"My life is totally different than how it would have been becasue, the money, empowered me to own a beautiful spacious house. Initially, I used to shelter in a very small poor condition house which I was even scared someday it might collapse. Therefore after receiving the money, I had to sort this issue first since it has really been frustrating me. To add to that, I now sleep comfortably in a bid wooden bed, this is to replace the old beddings that I have been using for years. Lately paying school fees for my children has made my life so easy because io a longer strain than before since I cleared all the areas."

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying building materials such as pieces of iron sheets, timber, nails, and building poles. This was for the consrtcuon of a brand new house becasue the initial one was almost collapsing because of its state. Later on, I bought a dairy cow that would now act as my living assets to depend on in case of an emergency. Also, I paid school fees for my children who were not in secondary school sitting for their national exams. The amount of money that had remained, I purchased enough foodstuffs"

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in a way that, the huge amount of financial help that I received was non-refundable. At first, I thought it was a scam because in today's world it's hard to find such kind of help and not only me even my village were also excited about the same. In addition to this, I was never given any conditions in regards to the money and I had to manage it till the end. This was the best part of all and I always which you people to think of us again soon."

"It's 8 years now since I tied the knot. I have never been successful to get a child since my wife has reproductive complications. This has really affected our marriage to the extent that her parents want her back home. This has led to psychological toture for me because I have always admired to have children. To add insult to injury the community including my relatives have always looked down upon me for not siring children. My spouse has also gone through hate from other family members."

"My life is now different from how it would have been becasue for the dairy cows that I acquired from the transfers I am now able to get milk for free. This is purely for my family consumption with is a supply to their daily meals making them healthier and glowing. Previously I have been buying to my neighbors which were relatively expensive and sometimes I could not afford. Also with the remaining liters, I am planning t sell to the nearby town center and earn a living. Also, the fact that I managed to complete my house makes the biggest change in my life. I am now sleeping under a decent permanent house without any stress like before."
