"Receiving this money means a stable source of income for my household. To ensure this materializes, I intend to start livestock keeping especially indigenous dairy cows that will be producing milk for sale. This will mean a consistent income for my family, unlike as of today, where my husband is a casual laborer and his income is very minimal. In most cases, we skip some meals. I, therefore, plan to invest $600 on this project to get 3 cows. The remaining amount will support me to cater to other basic needs like food, clothing, and education for my children."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in life is the inadequacy of funds. I am a motorbike taxi rider. I get an average of approximately Ksh 300 a day. We equally share that money with my parents who are at the sunset age of their life. This money is hardly enough to cater to a family of 3. Apart from the meager income I get, the job itself is tedious because it requires one to wake up early and work tirelessly in searching for clients. Something that I have never dreamt of doing in my life."

"We enjoy a higher style of living after receiving the transfer. The money enabled us have a bigger house with more rooms than the one we had before. Initially, we had a single-roomed house but we have built a new one with two additional rooms. Thus, we have some private rooms unlike before. Besides, my son enjoyed ample study time, something that could attract better performance. I wish God blesses GiveDirectly to continue improving more lives."

"lack of a good source of income is my biggest challenge. I always work as a gardener at our nearby gardens this job is tiresome and it is not guaranteed because of the high level of unemployment. In a day make 200 Kenya shillings which is not enough to cater for all our needs."

"Receiving this money means a lot to me because I have an ambition of being a large scale farmer earn an income from it and invest in my children's education. As the bread winner of my family, who works as a casual labourer, I am not always fortunate to be called for jobs daily. On the days I work I only get $3, I have 4 children in school and paying the school fees has been a struggle. My children get sent home on a regular basis because of fee arreas. So most of my transfer will be used in providing better education by paying school fees and built a bigger house which can accommodate my large family."

"I spent my transfer to acquire a cow for $150. This was to improve my livestock rearing which I had started with my first transfer. I also bought a mattress and bed for $120, I was sleeping on the traditional bed which was not comfortable and my kids were spending their nights on the floor. I also purchase school uniforms, books and paying fees for my 5 children."
