Mercy
received a $493 second payment.
"I spent part of my second transfers on expanding my kiosk business which I was operating in my village. This has been my major source of come for quite some time. However, I have been experiencing some challenges, especially during this global pandemic. Most people could not afford to come since they lost their jobs, also I used some of the capital to cater to my family's needs and this brought a deficit to the business. I was forced to take loans to some banks to boost the business but it reached a time I couldn't access any of the banks becasue I wasnt to paying on time. At that particular moment, I was almost closing the business and GiveDirectly came at the right time. I was able to revive it and it's running smoothly with good returns."

Bahati
received a $493 second payment.
"My life is different than how it would have been becasue, through the transfer, I manage to add another room to my house. Initially, it had a single room and my family is big therefore it couldn't accommodate us all. Some of my children used to seek shelter from relatives which a bit stressful. Also, the ox that I managed to purchase makes my life different in a positive way. It will be of great help to me in my farming activities because becasue of my old age, using my own hands was somehow tricky and most of the time I need up getting a low harvest."

Dama
received a $493 second payment.
"I spent part of my second transfer on buying a special machine used for cutting down trees and transform them into timber worthy of KES 29000. This was specifically for my spouse since he had an experience on the same. To add to that, I cleared fees for my son who had finished his primary school education. With the remaining amount of money, I bought enough food, and decent clothes for my children to replace the old ones"

Zawadi
received a $493 second payment.
"My life is different than how it would have been because since I started receiving the money, I managed to construct a very decent spacious house. The initial one was very small and in a bad state some of its walls had cracks and though that, I was always attacked by some rodents. As a result, most of my properties were always damaged, and replacing them was a bit expensive. It is now a huge relief to me because I no longer have to worry about all those insecurity issues and the rains. Also, the bedding that I purchased has made my life smoother in such a way that I do no complain bout back pain like before."
