"It has been my desire to own two dairy cows that will assist me to have milk in my family and able to sell the remaining to the market which will cater for other pressing needs in the house like food and school fees.. I will use 40 dollars to buy 2 dairy cows, and use the rest to purchase a storage tank for water since with my health status I am not able to carry water from the nearby river."

Gilbert
received a $493 second payment.
"My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily from my neighbor and this is so costly for me since I do not have a continuous source of income. I depend on small scale farming and casual jobs in the village. I rarely save some money. I didn't had money to buy the dairy cow, but I had wished to own one. When I received the second transfer I purchased a dairy cow. I am so grateful for the support because I no longer buy milk. My children get enough milk and I sell the surplus at the market to earn an income to meet other basic household needs. I no longer get stress up whenever I have visitors. GiveDirectly has changed my living standard."

"My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I was able to complete the construction that I had started using the previous transfer
We used to live in a small house which could not host all the family comfortably. When we had visitors there was no extra space to host them. We depend on casual jobs in the village and small business in town. The amount of money that we get through this jobs is so small and could not enabled us buy the building material and started building. I had always wished to own a spacious house. When I received the second transfer I started I bought the materials and started building, I also used part of this second transfer on completing the construction. Currently I own a spacious house and I no longer get stress up on where to host my victors. My children have spacious rooms where they can do assignment without any disturbance. I am so happy because my wish has been fulfilled. GiveDirectly has enable us improve our living standard."

"My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I was able to pay school fees for my children in various schools on time. My children were not sent home last term to collect the school fees because I paid in full. At home I depend on small scale farming and the harvest that we get sometimes is so small. We just have to try do casual jobs in the village to earn an income to pay the school fees. Sometimes to get this jobs is so hard, I was so stress up at some point because I didn't want my children to defer their studies. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly enabled me to pay on time. My children were not sent home last term to collect the school fees and this led to improving their grades. I also had peace of mind to do my daily activities without any disturbance. GiveDirectly has improved their our living standard."
