"Receiving this money means fulfilment of my dream to own indigenous dairy cows for milk production both for sale and for domestic consumption. My children are growing up and I think of milk selling as the only source of income to educate my children. The market of milk is good in my area and receiving GiveDirectly money will be a plus to me."

"I got separated from my husband ten years ago and he has not been supporting the two kids that he sired with me. There are times they have been sick or in need of school fees but I have had to bear the burden by myself through casual jobs. The income I get is insufficient and this has been the biggest hardship in my life."

"Providing food family and paying fees for the children has been the biggest challenge for me now that we rely mostly on casual jobs giving us about $2 a day. This in not enough to sustain the family given that the cost of living has gone high"

"Receiving this money will mean a lot to my family because we will be able to finally own a bigger house .My current house is a grass thatched hut and whenever it rains the inside becomes wet, we have to always take our beddings outside. Our dream house will cost us about $400 which includes purchasing the roof, timber and the floor. The remaining $700 I will use to purchase 3 dairy cows, we will sell the milk, generate an income and save on cost used for milk to purchase other basic needs such as food."

"I have always wished to buy another cow to help me get more milk. I have one but it cannot produce enough milk to sustain our needs. Also when i get this money i would like to build another kitchen, the one I have is leaking when it rains. Sometimes it rains too much making it difficult for me to cook."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is food insecurity mainly because of low rainfall in the area. It's been 3 years since we had ample rain. This has been the biggest stumbling block in achieving education for my children because most of the money my husband makes from charcoal production (40 dollars a month) goes into buying food."

"I would say GiveDirectly has done a good job in our village. When I look around people have used monies to improve their lives the best ways they know. Giving people money with no strings attached is the best model because they have different needs and as such it is impactful."

"For many years, I have desired to own a house for my self but I lacked the financial capacity to purchase the building materials. For all those years, I was sheltered by my neighbour. Every night I had to walk for one kilometer to my neighbour's house to spend my night there. I spent my transfer to purchase building materials including building poles, 14 irons sheets, tread, timber, and paid labor charges for the construction of my house. I also contributed $100 for the purchase of an animal-driven cart which we are using to fetch water. In addition to that sometimes we are hiring it out for a fee for light transport. With the remaining amount I bought enough food stock for the family."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well in sending me the cash transfer that aided in constructing a decent house for myself. Moreover, the aid has brought a lot of development to my village since most people have utilized the transfer in development projects."

"Givedirectly did well for conducting training before enrolling the eligible households into the program. This has really helped me in utilizing my transfer in appropriate way."
