"I spent $170 of my transfer to start livestock rearing by purchasing one dairy cow. I had wished to own livestock like others in the village but due to lack of financial capacity, I couldn't realize my dream. This is my longterm investment for the family that will support us whenever we face any financial crisis. I also bought 3 pairs of clothes for every member of my family. The remaining amount supported us in acquiring enough food stock for the family since we are experiencing drought and famine in our area."

Furthermore, I am sleeping on proper and comfortable beddings something that had reclaimed the happiness in the family."

"Living in a decent spacious house, starting a livestock rearing, and owning a piece of land is what makes my life different. For many years, I have wished to own a piece of land for farming since the one I had was infertile which led to poor harvest resulting in food insecurity in the family. After receiving my transfer, I spent $360 to purchase a one-acre piece of land. I also bought one local dairy cow and a goat for $154, this is my future investment for the family which will help me in educating my children when it multiply and cater for any financial emergency that might arise."

"Without the transfers, I would not have been able to construct a new house enough to comfortably accommodate all my household members. It would have also been so hard to raise enough school fees for my two sons who are soon joining their secondary schools. I am grateful that this aid was timely to the needs that were up in my household."

"It was such a great opportunity for each member of the village who was eligible for the transfer to make great changes in their households. GiveDidrectly did well by allowing each recipient to choose how best they wanted to spend the money. We were not given any condition but only urged to try our best to make our best decisions on the usage. In my opinion, everything was well executed as not even one person has raised any complaint on how GiveDirectly handled the whole program. At least there is great diversity on how each household spent its own - others constructed houses, others bought livestock, while others paid school fees for their children."

"Receiving this money means food security to my household since I plan to upscale my farming. This is because I always till only 1 acre of land using a hoe and the much produce I normally harvest is two 90kg bags of maize. I am planning to spend utmost 40000 of my transfers to buy oxen and an ox plough which will enable me to till my 3 acres of land. This will assure me of getting more harvest to sustain my family of 2. I will use the remaining amount to construct a decent house as well as buying new beddings to replace the old ones which are rugged."

"I spent my transfer to purchase 18 iron sheets for the completion of the construction of a house for my grown-up child. Previously, he uses to sleep in the kitchen which was not safe due to the smoke from firewood. Similarly, I purchased 12 bags of cement for the flooring in my house. I also purchased 2 beds and mattresses for $220, this is because we had been using traditional beds which were not comfortable. In addition, I spent the remaining amount to purchase 4 plastic chairs, I was using tree logs as sits something that brings embarrassment whenever I received guests."

Formerly, I was constantly worried about the future of my children due to the accumulated huge fee balance they have in school. In addition, I was able to boost my farming by purchasing an Oxen and ox-plough with the first transfer this will assure food security for the family. In addition, I was able to repair my motorbike and restart the taxi business which I had stopped due to lack of cash for maintenance."
