How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that, I was able to fulfill my desire of constructing a decent shelter for my child. He is now residing in a better place than before when he was living in the kitchen. In addition, I was able to improve the condition of my house by putting up a cement floor. Furthermore, I was able to purchase comfortable chairs and I am no longer skeptical whenever I received guests. Lastly, I was able to purchase proper doors for the houses and my properties are safer than before.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well in transferring cash directly to my phone. This aid has transformed my life in many ways that I couldn't have achieved without the assistance. I am very grateful for the aid. I don't see anything the organization did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my transfer to purchase 18 iron sheets for the completion of the construction of a house for my grown-up child. Previously, he uses to sleep in the kitchen which was not safe due to the smoke from firewood. Similarly, I purchased 12 bags of cement for the flooring in my house. I also purchased 2 beds and mattresses for $220, this is because we had been using traditional beds which were not comfortable. In addition, I spent the remaining amount to purchase 4 plastic chairs, I was using tree logs as sits something that brings embarrassment whenever I received guests.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I can still remember when I was from my farm then my phone started ringing loudly. I was a bit curious and decided to check who it could be. Only to realize it was an Mpesa message from GiveDirectly, I felt so happy because I knew I would achieve a lot.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I managed to build a new decent house which makes me proud. Previously I used to shelter under a small house that could not accommodate some of my family mbenrs. This has really been stressing me for long because the little I was earning from the casual jobs were not enough for me to build a new house. Therefore my children were forced to sleep at their friend's houses which was very stressful. I am now a happy parent since I now have a big house that can accommodate all my family members.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my transfer on buying some building materials which include, iron sheets, building poles, timber, nails, and a wooden door. This was for the construction of a new house since the previous one was small and it could not accommodate us all. In addition, I purchased some plastic chairs to replace the old mats that I have been using to sit on, it was so embarrassing whenever I have visitors. With the remaing amount of money, I bought enough foodstuffs for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means good shelter for my family. My desire has been to renovate my house which is leaking during rainy seasons. I am also planning to built a semi-permanent house for my son who is now above 18 but because of our small house, he has been sharing a room with her sisters which is not good according our culture. I am intending to spend $70 on building the new house and the extra amount on remodeling the older on. This is going enable me leave a decent life with my family.

My happiest part of the day is in the afternoon, it is at this time when I am back from my daily activities. I normal sits under our tree with my children and chat this releases my stress.
