"Maize is a four-month crop and if my next goal succeeds then it means that in six month's time I will be having enough harvests. This means that I will be able to provide for my family for the next year and even have enough for sale and earn income. I expect to do this by six months' time."

"The cash transfer has brought so much joy into my life. I am very delighted that with the cash transfer I will plaster and cement the house.
Previously, the house had spent over 3 years without completion. It was not that comfortable and habitable. However, I am very glad that the cash transfers were sent at the right time when we needed financial support to complete the house."

"At the moment, I believe that my daily life is soon going to change. This is because I have been able to purchase some of the building materials and I am planning to use my next transfer to start the work of building a permanent house for my family. Also, I am planning to start a poultry keeping project where I will be keeping majorly improved Kienyeji chicken after starting a business of buying and selling milk. I will be using the income from this project to cater for my family needs. Being able to diversify my sources of income will enable me to always meet our daily needs on time."

"I realized that I had received money from GiveDirectly in the morning while I was taking my breakfast. I had switched off my phone the previous night as I did not want any disturbances. Upon realizing the good news, I became so happy, prayed silently and asked God to continue blessing GiveDirectly so that they would continue touching other people's lives."

Esta
received a $512 second payment.
"I have always admired and been jealous of my neighbours when they go out herding their cattle. This is because I did not have any in my life. I felt so poor because I was not even able to own livestock just like my peers. Some of my friends would look down on me and even treat me unfairly. I knew one day my story will change but I did not know GD will be my way out. When I bought three cows with my transfer, some people thought they don't belong to me and I was taking care of someone else. Two weeks down the line, there was nobody who came for the cows. At that point, they acknowledged the cows were mine. Right now, they do come, we join the cows and go herding together. I do feel so proud at such times and all because of gD transfers."

"I have always in a two-roomed house because I did not have the resources to build a bigger one. I used to pray that some day I would get enough money to put up a house of my liking. I did not know the help would have come from GD. At first, I thought it was just an empty promise until I received my first transfer, I was very happy and went straight to our nearby hardware where I bought building materials such as iron sheets, timber and nails. I have used the materials to put up a three-bedroomed house. I feel so proud because of the house I built with gD transfers."
