"The biggest difference in my life today is that I now have a dairy cow, with I am certain that I will be able to cut down on the daily cost of milk, therefore saving up some money which is a very big relief on my side, secondly, I cleared school fees arrears for my children, lastly, I renovated my house. Indeed this is a blessing from above, everything went on smoothly as I had planned am I am grateful for the support that lifted my life amazingly."

received a $497 initial payment.
"Farming is my main source of income, this is what I depend on to pay for my children school fees, this has been my major challenge because I have eight of them, therefore my life is different now because I was able to pay for the fee arrears, and also managed to buy a piece of land so that I can increase the yields which would mean getting an extra income. I also bought a dairy cow which I am hopeful that I will be able to get enough milk for our daily usage hence cutting down on the cost of buying milk daily.GiveDirectly gave me hope of a better tomorrow and I am thankful for that."

"The ongoing drought is really taking a toll on my family and I as we are running low on the stored food we had. With my old age, I cannot start on looking employment in order to provide for my family so I have resorted to burning charcoal for sale.
Honestly, there are days we go without food, a situation that has begun to worry me because the weather does not seem to be getting any better. I hope and pray this drought does not finish us as we look helplessly."

"As you can see, this house is falling apart, I have no difference with the homeless people who are sleeping on the street. I hope to construct a much more decent house and at least enjoy the comfort of not being rained on as I sleep or the sun making me uncomfortable during the day. I will save the money I get to 50,000KES then start constructing slowly as i keep improving it as time goes by."

"At the moment, I am a housewife who is quite ambitious. I totally dislike sitting at home with nothing to do because in my earlier days, I used to be hardworking, I liked getting my own money but that was disrupted by childbirth. My husbmd asked me to stay at home and look after our children although now I feel like it is the right time to get back to work even if it means starting a business. I intend to save all my transfers for the first year, the accumulated amount of 33,000 KES will enable me start a retail shop and in the following years, I intend to save more money and buy a few cows as well as goats for farming and resale."

"I am very happy to receive this money. I will use the money to build a bigger house. The old house that I was living in was destroyed by the rains last season. I want to live in a house with iron sheets because I am tired of living in a house with a thatched roof."
