"Givedirectly has made future for us poor people here. We had nothing to depend on for our day to day living except subsistence farming. Our lives have been miserable and pathetic. Today people have know how to sleep on a matress, how to drink tea, how to dress well and live in good houses because of givedirectly. So to me all was well and i am grateful for such initiative"

"Since my childhood to this age i never received a gift amounting to what Givedirectly has given me and till now i do not understand that organisations can be generous to that extent. The fact is Givedirectly has done well on distributing transfers with such amount enough to satisfy human needs. On what went wrong, let me be honest with you there was nothing worth mentioning wrong"

"The biggest difference in my life is that my son was able to secure admission to a secondary school, unlike before where we had given up due to financial constraints, I am so happy that I was also able to prepare my farm for the next planting season, I am hopeful that with the farm proceeds I would be able to see my son through school, in addition to that I started a goat rearing business where I will be able to earn an income in future. I am so grateful and humbled for the transfer that I received that amazingly changed our living standards."

"Lack of sufficient funds has been the biggest hardship I have faced in life. I graduated 9 years ago and I have not been able to get employment. I spent all my savings in search of employment which never materialized. The little we get from dairy farming (approximately KES 200 a day) is hardly enough to cater to a family of five. Seeing Give Directly in our village is a sign of renewed hope."

"I have for a long time admired living in a decent and spacious iron-roofed house but this has never been possible to me due to financial instability. Receiving this money will, therefore, mean realizing my dream since I intend to spend utmost 30000 KES of my transfers to ensure I construct a decent house. This will give me the freedom of welcoming my visitors whom I have postponed their appointments. On the other hand, I will also venture into livestock keeping to have a store of wealth, and with this, I intend to buy 7 goats for 28000 KES. The remaining amount will cater to other basic needs like food, nice beddings, and clothing."

"The biggest hardship has been food insecurity. My area is very dry and therefore getting enough food to take us through the drought season is not possible. My life has been full of hardships since I was born, we have been depending on charcoal burning for survival and has not been easy. I have never had luxuries like sleeping on a mattress but I hope this money will brighten my days ahead."

"The moment I received my transfer, I was preparing to step out to the fields when I heard my phone ringing and vibrating loudly, Upon checking I saw a Mpesa notification message showing that I had received money from GiveDirectly, I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness, I knew that I will be able to complete my house, I then called my wife to inform him of the wonderful news that came our way, words cannot express how happy she was, I am grateful to have received the support from GiveDirectly."

"God did not bless me with a baby. I was married to a family but since I could not bear children my husband had to remarry. Before he died he had married two more wives who both had children. It is hurting that I am all alone with no one to support me."

"My family was in dire poverty and food was a problem. I did not know where i would source food and other basic needs as there are no factories where i would work and earn money here. Thanks to Givedirectly because with the transfer i have now bought 3 bags of maize for food which will cover my family for a good number of months. In preparation for growing season, i have procured 2 bags of fertilizer to apply to crops inorder to increase yield this year. Therefore i confirm that my life is now different than before"
