"My lifelong dream has been to start a second-hand clothes business but financial inability has been the major challenge since I couldn't raise enough capital on my own or borrow a loan. Receiving this money means that I will be able to secure 3000 KES loan to start the business whereby I will be servicing it with monthly transfers."

"When my husband was alive, we used to farm and we could harvest enough food for my family. Ever since he died, it has never been the same since the communal land that we depended on was subdivided and I only got a small portion. My biggest dream has been to buy a piece of land where I can do farming and harvest enough food since I have been depending on leased land. Receiving this money means that I will be able to save until I get enough money to buy land."

"My mud-walled house is weak and I have been living in fear that one day it will go down most probably during heavy rains. Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy sand and cement to renovate my house. At least, I will be able to sleep comfortably even during rainy seasons."

"I spent KES 10500 of the first transfer on buying goats. I am currently keeping them and my expectation is that they will reproduce and increase in number. I believe raising school fees for my children will not be a problem since I can readily rely on these goats. This will ensure that their studies are not interrupted because of lack of fees. I also spent KES 13000 on buying a new bed and a mattress. I did this to replace the old ones which are worn out and I was not able to buy new ones at my own cost. The transfer also enabled me to clear a loan that had accrued for months. I paid KES 10000 and cleared the loan. I spent the remaining amount on paying school fees for my children and also did some shopping for my household. I bought a 90KG sack of maize and beans that can take us a month. This has ensured that food is available for my family despite a failed harvest due to inadequate rains in our region."

"I'm very grateful that i received my second transfer and super excited with the whole experience as you know with my first transfer i managed to build a house, with this second transfer i have thought of investing it in a business,so i started a new business where i sell exotic chicken and its going on pretty well considering that I'm a bigginer. Give Directly has given me an opportunity to fight poverty,I'm pretty sure i will never see hunger again, without the programme i don't think i would have been able to raise such amount of money to start this business."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the construction of a spacious modern storage facility that will soon enable me to move luggage that has been filling my living room when I had no extra space to put them. This will also save me plenty of expenses that I had been making in hiring a place to store my harvests and in turn, will use the money in other running projects in my household."

"Financial constraints is the biggest hardship I have faced in my life. Being the sole provider in my family and having grandchildren to raise is not easy. Due to age, I started being sickly and was forced to close down my clothes business 4 years ago to stay home and farm because it is less tedious. This greatly reduced my daily earnings and it has been tasking to cater for school fees for my grandchildren in high school and university."

"The transfer has made a positive impact on my life. I didn't have proper beddings and I used part of my transfer to buy Mattress. The food was not enough due to low food production and I bought 8 bags of maize which will be enough to use as food till the next harvesting season. I also discovered that I need to work on boosting food production so that I can be food secured. I rented a 2.5 Acres of farming land and I paid MK 35 000. I had to borrow plates when cooking and I took part of the transfer to buy kitchen utensils. I also bought some clothes."
