How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
So much has changed in my life. Let me start by saying that before the transfer, I could go to bed without eating sometimes but when I received my transfer, I bought more food such that I no longer miss a meal. I should also say that this is the first time to have a large peace of land where I will cultivate. I am really grateful for this.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD is doing very well by making phones available to rural communities. I do understand that their main issue is to provide money through mobile money cash transfers, but an opportunity to get a phone is also an added advantage. I should also say that GD help many people in a village set-up than other NGOs.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The transfer has made a positive impact on my life. I didn't have proper beddings and I used part of my transfer to buy Mattress. The food was not enough due to low food production and I bought 8 bags of maize which will be enough to use as food till the next harvesting season. I also discovered that I need to work on boosting food production so that I can be food secured. I rented a 2.5 Acres of farming land and I paid MK 35 000. I had to borrow plates when cooking and I took part of the transfer to buy kitchen utensils. I also bought some clothes.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money means that I will be able to build a house for my family. I will also buy a mattress and other household items we need. On top of that, My husband will use it as transport to go to South Africa. He does not have any job here so we are hoping that he will find a job there.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest whenever I find enough food to eat.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is not having enough food. We farm maize but we don't harvest enough because we don't apply fertilizer.
