"I am very excited to receive these transfers from GiveDirectly. I will use the money to buy food beddings so that I should have a good place to sleep so that I can be able to rest after working. I also want to buy iron sheets so that I can have a good roof that will last a long time rather than a thatched roof that I have to change every year."

"I spent the money on buying timber, nails, and iron sheets that were used in the building of my new house. As of now, my house is in the process of completion and very soon we will be moving to the new house. I also spent a portion of the amount in buying beds and mattresses for me and my family. Before we use to sleep on woven mats and slept on the floor. With the remaining amount, I did save it as I continue thinking about what business I should engage in so that I can be able to make a good profit to be able to maintain my family."

"My husband happened to have passed away a long time ago since my son was a toddler and raising him alone has not been easy so after I received the money I handed him KES 23,000 of which he topped with his own savings so that he could go to school. Since I had plans to own a couple of animals, the first transfer helped me get beddings including a bed and a mattress since previously I slept on sisal beds which were very uncomfortable sometimes so I bought couple of goats so and with the second transfers I got four more goats which cost me KES 13,300 and then I also bought a sack of maize which was worth KES 3,000 plus the fare which was KES 200."
