What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very excited to receive these transfers from GiveDirectly. I will use the money to buy food beddings so that I should have a good place to sleep so that I can be able to rest after working. I also want to buy iron sheets so that I can have a good roof that will last a long time rather than a thatched roof that I have to change every year.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the past six months I have had moments of joy where I had managed to buy some good food for my family. Sometimes I managed to make MK10,000 which I can use for close to two weeks buying food such as rice and eggs. This kind of food makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The challenges that I am facing currently is lack of food and poverty in general. I do not have good clothes as well as a good place to sleep. I face the challenge of lack of food because I do not have the necessary resources such as fertilizer which can boost my harvest. So mostly I harvest very little maize for food.
