"I partially work as a charcoal burner to earn a living. At 65 years of age, I cannot be productive because I am less energetic. This translates to a low income. I make approximately 2,000 KES a month. This amount is not even enough to sort out my month's needs. It is for this reason that I have been unable to construct a toilet."

"It is only a matter of time before my house comes tumbling down. I look at it as a ticking time bomb. It started breaking mid last year and it keeps getting worse. My priority would be to put up another house and demolish this one. It could cost more than both transfers but I will work hard in my charcoal business to raise what will have remained. I am pretty excited at the thought. I cannot wait to transition."

"The rising cost of living is the biggest challenge am currently facing. My children need school fees, farming is no longer productive due to pests and diseases and that's what I used to depend on. My firstborn is set to start high school in May this year and I don't even have an idea where the initial cash needed to start school will come from. My salary cannot sustain all these needs and it really gives me a hard time."

"I was in dire need of finances to begin my building project. Therefore, when I received my transfer from GiveDirectly, I bought 2 bundles of zinc ($22,000LD) for my new house that is under construction. I also used portion of my transfer to purchase zinc nails and mixed nails for my building project. My balance transfer was used to buy food for contractors. GiveDirectly is indeed a huge blessing to me and my family."

"GiveDirectly in my opinion has demonstrated that we are very important to them. For example, if any recipient of the program left the town for any reason whatsoever, there are teams set aside to by all cost reach out to that person. This is so unimaginable to me. This I think they do best. No matter how far you go, they are concern about your safety and they above all want to know if you received the transfer and what and how you spend it. For what it does not do well, I can't say exactly now. I have seen no flaws actually. I am just so happy for my life and that my dreams are now coming to reality."

"No! Like I told you the last transfer period, Imy only goal is to have a Livestock and change the roof of my house. These goals still remains the same today until after all of my transfers. The condition of the roof of my house is totally bad. The rainy season is fast approaching. A month or two from now. I have to speed up to have the roof of my house fix so that the rain will not embarrass me and my family. I also want to have a Livestock business to sustain me and my family after GiveDirectly should have departed this village. My family has been suffering from the rains. My kids would fall sick regularly due to cold. I don't want that to ever happen again. That's why my Livestock business will keep me earning money when GiveDirectly is no more. Meanwhile, I am so happy for this program. It is so unique. It allows villagers to decide their own future. This is something very much uncommon in Liberia amongst NGO. I hope by the end of my transfer, I should have met my goals."

"Before the coming of GiveDirectly, I have worked very hard to built two houses along with my husband. The second house that we built could not be completed because of financial problems. When GiveDirectly came and when I received my first transferred from Givedirectly, I was very much happy. It is through the transfer from Givedirectly now am able to save money to complete my house. I am waiting to withdraw my third and fourth transfers to finally finished the house and start up a business for my future investment."
