David
received a $50 fourth payment.
"My goal now that I have started receiving the money is to upgrade my malimali business to retail one. By doing so, I will have increased my daily income. I will be saving part of my income while I use the remaining to cater for my needs. I will later use my savings to pay for my college fees since my dream has always been to pursue a course in mechanical engineering. I will look for a job after completing my studies so that I will not be depending on only one source of income."

Mebo
received a $495 second payment.
"I spent part of my most recent transfer to add some stock to my business. This business is my only source of income and expanding it is the only way I can earn more income to use in meeting my family needs. Secondly, I spend part of it to pay an M-shwari debt which I took during my grandmother's burial and I had not cleared paying for it. Because of this, I had been listed with credit clearance bureau (CRB) and I had to use some money also to pay the clearance fee. I saved the remaining amount so that I can use them collectively with my next transfer. I am still planning on how I will effectively use this money in a profitable way."

Gladys
received a $526 second payment.
"I have a son who has been pursuing his university education for six years now. We have had school fees challenge that has seen him on and off in his studies. At one time he was almost giving up in his dream of completing his university education and possibly getting employed. I encouraged him to keep his hope alive despite the fact that I knew it was going to be difficult to get the money that he badly needed to complete his education. It is through the GiveDirectly transfers that he has been able to continue with his studies and is due to graduate in the next couple of months. He is so happy as well as I am. This would have been impossible without the help of GiveDirectly transfers."

"Since I started business in the area, I could not make good profit because people had desire to buy my items but high rate of poverty could not allow them to do so. They could opt for the most basic items like food. But upon getting the transfer, my business suddenly picked. I have made good profit and that has enabled me to do other project like poultry keeping."

Perez
received a $545 second payment.
"Inlike in the past when I was seen as a beggar, I am now capable of paying school fees for my children with ease. I have a house which to me is still a dream. I have a peaceful mind, and this has contributed to good planning for my business. Sometimes back, I was diagnosed with ulcers due to worries, but that is no longer there. "

Pamela
received a $526 second payment.
"My life has got a very big different in that, the house I had before was small and could not accommodate the family members, we were confined into a small house, and sometimes confidentiality could be difficult because we were sleeping in a single room. I was being forced by the fact that I was poor to beg for chairs from neighbours. This could result to gossip and this bred to stigmatization in my life. Thank God for GiveDirectly."

Sellin
received a $526 second payment.
"My life is different in that, I used to live in a small house with poor condition. I now live in a house that I could not believe to have. I have also expanded the business and it is gainful, and this, I believe will sustain my income for family use."
