"The biggest hardship in my life is poor accommodation. It's very difficult always renovating the thatched house because the thatch material is scarce which makes it expensive. "

"Receiving this money means great joy to me as a youth. The money will help me fulfil my desires such as buying oxen and an ox plough for ploughing. I always face a challenge when it comes to ploughing my garden simply because I don't have oxen and an ox plough. I'm forced to go and work for those who have oxen so that they plough for me as well . The balance of the money will be used to buy household items and two heifers which will reproduce and help me marry in the new future."

"My family currently lives in two very small houses. It is most often congested and cannot accomodate the five members of my household especially when it comes to a sleeping place. My children are grown and also need their own space. Therefore, when I receive this money,I intend to build a bigger house so that this small one can serve as a kitchen.Since this will will only use up sh 30000 (300 Usd) of my transfer,I will use the remaining part to buy a cow for 300 Usd, and four sheep costing 200 Usd.I will then use the rest to offset school fees for my children as well as buy household items."

"Depending on livestock and crop farming as my main source of income has been a major challenge for me.This is due to the long dry spells and diseases.I was once a large scale livestock farmer but a disease by the name ECF cleared almost my whole shed.More than 10 cattle died of the disease. This was a huge set back for me.On the side of crop farming, maize; which is our staple food has not been doing well for about 10 years now. This is also due to the long dry spells, unpredicatble weather and crop disease.I rely heavily on farming and that is why it has affected my income.Providing basic needs and education for my family has turned out to be an uphill task."

"My new goal is to be a cake vendor, I want to do it on a larger scale. I will be supplying the cakes in shops and supermarkets. I already know the basics and I know what challenges to expect once I expand it. I have also started marketing my products in the nearby supermarkets and shops. I have hopes that I will soon own the biggest bakery and be the best supplier of cakes."

"My life is different from how it was in that, I have peace of mind. I no longer quarrel about money with my husband because I restored a business that had collapsed a few months ago. The business is currently doing well. I normally sell chapatis and however little I get from this business, it is better than asking for it elsewhere. I am glad because I do not depend on him for everything like I used to do that in most cases resulted in a lot of conflict and misunderstanding. At least I have started making some progress and adding value to my home, for instance, I recently bought a solar lantern through monthly installment. I known that this will help my family."
