"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life has been health issues that resulted to unemployment. After getting into an accident while at I work I developed some health complications that lagged me behind in looking for work since I can not do a lot of heavy duty work. My head was injured as well as my knees and so I can't stand for so long when working. This has made it hard for me to get regular jobs, no one wants an employee who can not perform well everyday."

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying a plot worthy of KES 18000. On top of that, I bought some building materials such as iron sheets, building, timber, threads, and nails. This was for the construction of a new house on the new plot. Previously I used to stay in rental houses which were so expensive and most of the time I could not afford to pay the rent on time. I also paid the mason KES 10000 as his labor charge. With the little that had remained, I bought enough foodstuff for the family"

"In my opinion, GiveDrectly does so well becasue of the following reasons, One, I was able to receive my money without so many channels it was sent directly to my phone. Also, I was advised on how best I can utilize the money without wasting even a coin, and it's really enlightened my mind. Therefore I do see any sector GD failed us."

"My child is building a house for me without ironsheets as he cannot manage to do everything so this money will mean alot to me since I will be able to buy and put ironsheets on my house and finish everything about it. I will use this whole first transfer in building a house because this small house iam living in is not enough for my family as of now we have no where to keep our maize so i just need a big and a better house for my family."

"The money will meant owning a good house. I lost my house in March 2021 due to heavy rains and winds. Since then I have build what I thought could be a temporary shelter, little did I knew it will be my permanent house. I lost almost everything that I have worked for with the house and it is difficult now to rebuild it due to covid 19 pendamic as I solely depends on my two sons who are in South Africa, working but since the start of Covid 19, I was told they have be fired from their work place. Since then, life has never been easy. I can not afford to feed myself and the family. The money will go a long way, and I dream of sending my son's part of the transfer for them to buy bus tickets to come back home."

"I spent part of my first transfer on buying an ox at KES 23000 purposely for my farming activities. Previously I had bought one with the previous cash transfer and it's now a full pair ready to work. Also since I have been sleeping on the traditional beds for all the years, I decided to buy a new wooden bed and mattress. I used to complain a lot, especially about my spinal cord. With the remaining amount of money, I bought foodstuffs for my family since it's now a dry season."

"I work in my uncle's milling business. I usually receive a monthly salary in the region of 2,200-2,500 depending on the number of customers served. My monthly expense supercedes my salary and so no surplus amount remains for me to do other stuff. As a result, I live in one grass thatched house that acts as bedroom and kitchen. I am not in a position to host visitors that have an intention to spend the night at my place as the room is too small. Receiving this money will mean that I will be able to construct a nice house for 45,000 shillings. For the remaining amount, I intend to use 28,000 shillings to buy a dairy cattle and the rest improve nutrition."

"In my opinion, this organisation has been conducting all its exercises fairly and freely starting from the Barraza to when I received my second transfer. Whatever they promised is what they delivered and everyone was pleased. Also, almost everyone in my village owns mobile phones which apart from using it sending money, we easily communicate with our loved ones unlike before."
