"Receiving this money means starting livestock farming. This is because, I usually depend on charcoal burning business that earns me less than $6 a day. I have a family of four children and my wife. Two are attending school and the others are still young. These children are depending on me as the breadwinner. However, due to poverty and lack of a better job, meeting their basic needs has really been very difficult. I intend to use the first cash transfer from GiveDirectly to buy three dairy cows that will cost me approximately $450. This will help me to start selling milk in the village to improve the health of young children who most of them suffer from malnutrition. This will help me earn an income and at the same time, impact the lives of other people in the village. I will then use the second cash transfer to renovate my house and construct one more room for my children at a cost of $200 and use the remaining amount for food and other basic needs."

"My biggest concern was to build a decent house for my family, the one that we were living in before was small, therefore when I got the confirmation message from the mpesa that I had received the transfer, I knew that this was the opportunity for me to change my living standard, therefore, I used 300 dollars to build a decent spacious house, I then used 150 dollars to buy a dairy cow for us to get enough milk for our child, The remaining amount I bought a mattress and foodstuffs."

"The biggest hardship I have ever faced is financial instability. I am doing a casual job of charcoal vending, the job is tiresome and time-consuming, and the earning is very little such that cannot fully sustain all household needs. This has led me to sometimes be unable to put food on my table. We constantly skip meals or borrow from relatives something that does not give me a piece of mind ."

"My dream has been to live in a well furnished house.I built my house from the savings I earned from my casual work.i was unable to buy furnitures due to limited capital. This transfers will now enable me buy furnitures worth KES 20000. I also want to buy a dairy cow worth KES 25000 because I do not own one at moment.I spent approximately KES 1800 on milk every month. This cow will provide milk for my family and hence we shall be food secure.I shall also buy three dairy goats each at KEs 4000 .Goats do well in this region because of the vegetation and weather.I shall sell the milk and earn a daily income."

"Receiving this money means adding capital to my business. I am currently running a book shop business and I started with a Capital of Ksh.20000. The market is big such that I cannot satisfy my clients fully with the stock I have. I want to add a stock of Ksh.55000 so as to satisfy my clients. I will use the remaining amount to start an Mpesa business at the book shop. This will add my income to approximately Ksh. 5000 every month."

"In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well."
