We used almost the entire first and second transfer to build a more decent house than the one we were living in. It had taken us as a family over 1 year to accumulate money enough to buy timber and when we received the transfer we thought it wise to start building our new house. I am happy that the house is now complete but what remains is the seats and a water tank that we are yet to buy. It is therefore one of my goals which I will be pursuing going forward. This will make our house more habitable and the water tank will bring to an end the long distance that we travel in search of water in rivers and also the cost that normally comes with it. We hope to achieve this soon despite the low income that we make from farming and casual labor that my husband engages in.

GiveDirectly enrolled everyone who was full time resident in our village without discriminating on anyone. All the people irrespective of their economic status benefitted from these transfers and that is something that impressed me a lot about this organization. I honestly did not find anything that I thought GiveDirectly did not do well or should improve.

We used the remaining amount of KES 3000 to buy fertilizers, maize seeds for planting and used some to pay for educational needs of our four children. Hsad we not been beneficiaries of this program then we would not have completed the construction of our house yet. I am personally grateful for the help GiveDirectly offered us.

I was on my way home from the stream when I heard my phone ringing, it was around 10 am, I then stopped to check what the message was all about, upon checking my phone I saw a Mpesa notification showing that I had received a sum of KES 55,000 from GiveDirectly, I was so happy that I hurriedly rushed home so that I could inform my children, I was thankful because I knew that finally, I would be able to complete the house that was left halfway. The organization brought so much happiness to our lives and we were humbled and grateful.

For a while now my house was left halfway due to inadequate funds, I had earlier saved up money that I thought would enable me to construct a house, unfortunately, the funds were not enough. when I received my transfer I saw it as an opportunity for me to continue with the construction, therefore the biggest difference in my daily life is that I was able to complete the house, In addition, I was able to prepare my farm for the next planting season where I bought seeds and fertilizers. I am grateful for the support that gave meaning to my life and brought so much joy to my home.

I am a subsistent farmer and a mother of three, when I received my first transfer I decided to prioritize my house that was incomplete, I was unable to finish the house due to financial constraints, I, therefore, used KES 32,000. I then used KES in preparing my land for the next planting season, lastly, I used the remaining amount of the transfer in buying clothes and foodstuffs. I am so grateful that I was able to accomplish so much within a short period.
