Kache
received a $423 second payment.
"My greatest wish is for my grandchildren to complete their education and find good jobs. That, I believe, is the only way to ensure they have the best lives possible. In addition, I pray that God will keep me alive until all of my children have decent jobs and can support themselves and their families."

Selly
received a $438 initial payment.
"I used $300 to clear school fees for my two children who were both in secondary school and used the remaining amount to advance my farming practices and to buy food for my family. The money came at a time that I was struggling to pay school fees for my children after my husband passed on a year a go leaving me with all the responsibilities of raising the family."

"I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. Never before had we received such support from anyone in the past. I felt happy that the things we had always had as plans were finally going to be realized."

Thomas
received a $438 initial payment.
"When I received my first transfer of $5500, I withdrew just $150 that I sed to buy goats for keeping. I saved the remaining amount of $400 to be used in putting up a house for my family of 6. We have been living in one small grass thatched house and our plans to put up a new house have never materialized due to very little income and savings in the long run. We had made savings amounting to $200 by the time we received a transfer from GiveDirectly. We are so happy that this savings has amounted to $600 an amount that is enough to start the construction of the house. It will be one of my greatest achievements to see this house fully constructed."

Bahati
received a $423 second payment.
"I now want to open a store where I will sell stuff that sells quickly, like food and clothing. After observing that we must go a considerable distance to reach some stores, I came up with this proposal. There are only two unreliable stores in the entire hamlet since their owners do not have enough money to adequately fund them. Once I get the business going, I'm confident that it will help me support my family and pay for my kids' college education."

"We appreciate GiveDirectly's hard effort, which was fair to all the village people. We received excellent training during the first meeting that helped us understand what was required of us before registration. We were able to prepare and make judgments after reading the fly cards that we received and listening to the training during the first meetings. Every stage of the process was appreciated, and we look forward to receiving more in the future."

Fatuma
received a $423 second payment.
"My current primary goal is to open a bookshop. As there are numerous secondary and elementary schools in our neighborhood but no bookstores, I came up with this idea. Children have to go further to get to the amenities. I have high hopes for my stationery business once it gets off the ground because both kids and teachers need these essentials on a daily basis."

"GiveDirectly did well in coming to the village and elaborating on the program at the meeting as well as seeking our consent before enrolling us into the program. Also, GiveDirectly did so well for fulfill every promise they made during enrollment. I feel every stage was handled well and there nothing I would recommend for a charge."

Sidi
received a $438 second payment.
"In the coming year, I would wish to start a small kiosk business at our home which is close to the nearby road. I am planning to construct a small semi-permanent shop and stock it with vegetables like tomatoes, cabbage and fruit like oranges, and mangos. This will be a reliable source of livelihood for myself that would support me in meeting basic needs like food."

Samwel

"The support offered by GiveDirectly has generally improved our people's lives and standard of living. We received excellent training on how the program operates, where the donations come from, and all of the stages they would walk us through, beginning with the census stages when the organization conducted community sensitization. There were no flaws or issues that needed to be addressed in my opinion."
