Ruth
received a $367 second payment.
"My new goals that I did not have before receiving the transfer is that I am planning to start a poultry project in my rural home. This project will be a good source of income to my family from the sale of eggs. This will therefore boost my daily income hence I will be able to provide the basic needs such as food for my family without any challenge. I am also planning to start a new business in Mathare where I sell cereals. Currently I do not have any source of income and starting this business will bring in more income and I will be able to help my husband provide some of the household needs. I will save part of the income I get from my businesses in table banking so as to use it to pay school fees for my daughter in future."

Prisillar
received a $367 second payment.
"My life is currently different in that I am now able to provide basic needs for my family. In the past, I used to do casual jobs such as washing clothes to get money to provide food for my family. The money I got was not enough to buy food and at times my children could sleep hungry. I used part of transfers to to start new business where I sell second hand clothes and I am now able to provide enough food for my family with the income I get from the business. I thank Give Directly for the cash transfers since I no longer do casual jobs and my children do not sleep hungry as they used to do in the past."

"I expect to boost my barber shop business to increase the income for the family. I also plan to save towards building a new house as I do have a thatched roof that leaks when it rains. I also believe I shall have graduated from my driving course which will help me land a good and better job hence increase in income for the family."

"I expect in the next six month to have saved enough money and bought the necessary building materials which will necessitate the construction of my decent spacious iron sheet house hence staying in a leaky grassed thatched house won't be a challenge."

"I am a business minded person and my ambition has always been to own a very stable business. In the past I used to run a second-hand clothes business and a small shop in Mombasa which collapsed due to financial instability. My village is drought stricken and people are not able to access vegetables and most of the time they take ugali with salt. I see this as an opportunity to start a grocery business that will not only generate income but also improve the livelihoods of people. I will also reopen my clothes business which I will run alongside the grocery. I will save extra income in a sacco that will enable me to access loans in order to expand the business and also educate my children."
