How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Life is different in that I have an iron sheet roofed house now and this has made me a happy person. Before, I used to sleep under a leaking grass thatched house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well giving out money that has enabled people to build iron sheet roofed houses changing the outlook of the village from grass thatched houses to iron sheet roofed houses. I also like them for giving out phones and occasionally visiting us to see how we are doing. I don't see anything it hasn't done well in my opinion.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My second transfer was spent to buy cement that was used to plaster walls of my house. I also bought a cow and three goats that were used as pride price for my son's wife, then the balance spent on feeding at home.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is better now in that, I have a lot of joy because I can afford to buy food using this transfers. Furthermore, I have a lot of happiness seeing my house under construction because I never I imagined I could construct a permanent building on my own if it wasn't of GiveDirectly's cash transfers.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My transfer entered my phone at around 3:00 am but I did not notice because I was a sleep. When my son heard noise of people ululating, He came and knocked my door and asked me if I received the money and that was at around 4:00 am. when he crossed checked my account, He told me I had received my money at around 3:00 am. I became so happy and thanked GiveDirectly for rescuing me from the absurd poverty.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer, I decided to built a iron roofed house because the one I'm currently occupying is ram-shackled and leaks. I bought building materials like Iron sheets, bricks, timber, cement all at ugx 1187000 and labor 300000. I bought food for both the household and the builders at ugx 45000. I also bought household items i.e mattress, basins and bowls at ugx 98000 and I have saved ugx 70000 for future use.
