"Personally I am very happy that GiveDirectly chose to send me these cash transfers. I never thought I would ever build an iron roofed house in my life. I am always beaming with joy when I go to sleep. Prior to receiving the cash transfers, I was living in a thatched house for over 34 years which was in a really inhabitable state. I have observed that constructing this house has improved my living conditions and the community members accord me more respect."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of farm land. As a result, my household has always been in a poverty cycle because the small piece of land that I can afford to hire is usually not big enough to accommodate all that I would want to plant in order to meet the needs of my family. "

"One thing I am sure about is the sale of the tree seedlings which will take a very short period of time to start growing. Once they are bought then definitely I will be sure of generating some income which will help me a great deal in taking care of my financial needs and the daily financial needs of the family."

"My daily life is much better because I can now afford to buy Agricultural inputs (seeds) in large quantities. I'm sure of food security in my home. Prior to this transfer, I faced a challenge of food insecurity because I could farm in small quantities. In addition, I'm able to pay school fees for my 3 children who are now in private school. My children can now access better education. Before this transfer, I could not afford better performing schools. I was forced to enrol them in a Government school which had teachers with low commitment."

"I have grandchildren I am taking care of in my home. So, when I receive this money, I will use part of the money to pay for their school fees. I will also buy oxen to help in ploughing agricultural land because I have been hiring them from other people. These will help me to save money that I have been using for hiring oxen and put it into my current small business of brewing local beverages hence improving on my household income. Besides all that I will also seek proper medical care because I'm ill but had no sufficient funds to get proper treatment."

"My life is different in that, I sleep in a cemented descent house now and I am very happy for this achievement. In addition, I have owned oxen and an ox-plough that have made farming easier for me and I believe I will have increased yields this season since the planting was done in time. Previously, I ploughed my farm land late because the oxen owners were not willing to give out their oxen before they finish with their farms. I also didn't have enough money to buy cement and pay labour for plastering my house."
