"After receiving the transfer, I spent 40000KES on school fees for my two children. I used 15000KES out of the allocation on paying the college fee for my son, and the other 25000KES saved as my daughter will soon be joining grade 9. I spent the remaining on buying household goods and I was so grateful that the decision to settle school fees for my children after receiving the transfer happened. I a,m currently looking forward to the second transfer which I too will use in other new projects."

"My life is different than how it has always been because I am hopeful and happy. Through the financial support, I managed to construct my dream house. Initially, I have been sleeping under a small house which was in very poor condition and one of its rooms had collapsed. Therefore this forced some of m children to vacate and leave with my relatives. I want happiness at all because it is the joy of every parent to live with all her children under one roof. However, I was always optimistic that I would still own a spacious house someday. My prayer was answered and the condition is now very different. We are living happily together without any worry and as a result, I have even gained some weight, because there is no more stress."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by giving out cash transfers to every deserved household in my village. Our living standards have totally improved because each one of us has at least an asset such as livestock that can depend on. Also, currently, our houses are iron roofed and decent. One can no longer find a temporary hut in the village like before. In regards to this, I do not see any part GiveDirectly failed us."

"I am a mother of five who is in a polygamous marriage. Despite having five children, I get to struggle when trying to provide food for my husband. This is so as we do not harvest a lot and my husband's attention towards the family is divided as he also has to take care of the other family of second wife. The only way to earn some money is when we harvest and sell some produce such as pigeon peas and maize. My husband also manages a small business of selling fish to supplement the income. Hence, this money will assist us to afford a better house with iron sheets as well as our children at school as they will be writing their primary school leaving examinations soon since there is always a demand for examinations fees. I believe this money will also open up new opportunities we thought we did not have once we settle down and decide how to spend the money better."

"We face a lot of difficulties in doing our best to have enough food. This is so as we harvest a little due to lack of fertilizer which comes in coupons from government. We end up struggling to have everyday food and the children too sometimes fail to attend classes because of hunger."
