How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes i have lived my life without any hope that i would build a beautiful house due to poverty. Now with GiveDirectly i have managed to build a house which i would not manage on my own
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well on distributing monetary aid which is enough to change peoples livelihood. There was nothing done wrong on my part

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy and excited when i realised that i had recieved my transfer. I was simply at home preparing lunch for my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I was able to afford to pay for both my childrens examination expenses which i could not have afforded on my own. This is such a huge difference because i nolonger have to look for small jobs to pay for my childrens exams.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have two children who are currently in school. 1 is in secondary school and the other one is in primary school. Both my children are in exam writing classes. With the transfer i have managed to pay for their exam expenses. The child in secondary school is doing self boarding which means i have to pay for his rent and food. I was able to send him some money from the current transfer. I have also managed to save some of the money because i want to build some boys quarters for mu children. I will need bricks, timber and iron sheets.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very happy to be included in this program by Give Directly. Things have been very hard especially with the corona virus pandemic as our livelihood went from bad to worse. Things are hard because the traders who usually come to buy our produce are not buying like before and to find money for our daily basic necessities is very difficult. Hence, this money shall be used to build a better iron-roofed house for me and my family. Since I also have primary school kids, some of the money shall go towards their education. If there will be any money remaining,we shall use that to buy blankets and food too.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Bring an old woman who is in a polygamous marriage like me has it's challenges. Sometimes am just alone at home and at times I get to chat with my kids. That's the only time I get to be happy as I get to know them more.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We face a lot of difficulties in doing our best to have enough food. This is so as we harvest a little due to lack of fertilizer which comes in coupons from government. We end up struggling to have everyday food and the children too sometimes fail to attend classes because of hunger.
