"I have desired to construct a decent house for the family since the one I had was small to full accommodate us and our properties. Despite the fact that it was very small I was using it as my kitchen at the same time. I spent $500 of the transfer to construct a spacious two-roomed house for the family. The remaining amount assisted me in boosting the livestock rearing by purchasing one goat an economic activities I had started with my first transfer."

"Without the transfers, I would not have been able to construct a new house enough to comfortably accommodate all my household members. It would have also been so hard to raise enough school fees for my two sons who are soon joining their secondary schools. I am grateful that this aid was timely to the needs that were up in my household."

"It was such a great opportunity for each member of the village who was eligible for the transfer to make great changes in their households. GiveDidrectly did well by allowing each recipient to choose how best they wanted to spend the money. We were not given any condition but only urged to try our best to make our best decisions on the usage. In my opinion, everything was well executed as not even one person has raised any complaint on how GiveDirectly handled the whole program. At least there is great diversity on how each household spent its own - others constructed houses, others bought livestock, while others paid school fees for their children."

"The biggest hardship that I have faced in my life is food insecurity. This is because we rely on casual jobs and our income can not sustain all our needs. Due to this, we struggle a lot to put food on the table and sometimes we seek help from our relatives."

"I spent my transfer to purchase 18 iron sheets for the completion of the construction of a house for my grown-up child. Previously, he uses to sleep in the kitchen which was not safe due to the smoke from firewood. Similarly, I purchased 12 bags of cement for the flooring in my house. I also purchased 2 beds and mattresses for $220, this is because we had been using traditional beds which were not comfortable. In addition, I spent the remaining amount to purchase 4 plastic chairs, I was using tree logs as sits something that brings embarrassment whenever I received guests."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received my transfer in that I am living a happy life after completing the fee payment for my son. Formerly, I was constantly worried about the future of my children due to the accumulated huge fee balance they have in school. In addition, I was able to boost my farming by purchasing an Oxen and ox-plough with the first transfer this will assure food security for the family. In addition, I was able to repair my motorbike and restart the taxi business which I had stopped due to lack of cash for maintenance."
