"Through the through the transfer that we have been receiving from the Organization you can clearly aee the changes that have been happening in our lives. Forr instance I was able to seek medical attention with the transfers and also managed to finally buy a goat which would not have been possible before, because I made small wages from burning and selling charcoal, which was hardly enough to cater for basic needs."

"I used $100 to buy food for my family. I am a mother of seven and we got to receive this money at a time that we were facing a serious food crisis. Getting the money was a huge relief to us as a family and we could not debate on this since it was a common need within the family. We then used another $300 to buy iron sheets and other building materials for building a house that we had agreed to build once we get the second transfer. We were living in a very small house that that did not give us the much needed comfort and we had never really been able to raise enough money to be able to build one until we received money from GiveDirectly. We normally rely on odd casual jobs that allows us to just meet the needs of the family and sometimes may not earn us just enough to buy food. We then used the amount that remained to buy goats for rearing. The goats shall be instrumental in enabling us meet other needs of our family in future including payment of school fees for our second born child who is joining secondary school as from next year. We are so grateful to GiveDirectly for the support that we received."

"I used my most recent transfer to procure 2 bags of fertiliser in preparation of the next rainy season so that I can be able to produce more yields..I bought these 2 bags at an approximate amount of $130. Furthermore, I bought 5 bags of maize for my whole family..These bags of maize will take my household untill January next year since it is a small family..1 bag of maize was bought at a price of $20. Then, I bought a goat at a price of $35 so that I can start raising for future purchases i.e. when I do not have enough money, I can be able to sell and buy food."

"GiveDirectly has brought a great opportunity for me.you see this house? I have lived in it for the past 30 year. It has been infested by termites and whenever it rains it moves threatening to fall on us. I intend to spend $800 of the cash transfers to build myself a better house. The remaining amount I will buy goats at $30 each which I would keep to be able to sustain me into the future. I am not getting any younger, I need something for my old age and grandkids."

"I used my most recent transfer to procure 2 bags of fertiliser..I spent at least $120 on the bags of maize and $8 on transport..I plan to apply the fertilizer on maize which I think will help me to have more money in the future. I bought food i.e. 6 bags of maize at $120..These bags will take my household through february next year since my family is small consisting of 5 people. Furthermore, I paid school fees for my son Dalirani, who is in form 1 and in secondary school..The fees is $25 and the remaining part of money was spent on purchasing 1 goat so that I can add on to the few goats that I already have."

"I spend my most recent transfer to procure 2 bags of fertilizer at $70 each..I will use the fertilizer on my 1 acre piece of land by cultivating enough maize so that I can be able to produce higher yields. I also bought 5 bags of maize at $20 per bag..I feel these bags of maize will take us through march next year as my family is very small. I saved some of the cash which I think I will use in procuring livestock such as goats and chickens as well as kitchen utensils."

"I am too frail and old to work by myself. I rely heavily on my son, a subsistence farmer, for financial assistance. Given that I am unable to work, the money I receive from GiveDirectly enables me to meet my immediate needs. I used my previous transfer to purchase a goat, who has since borne two kids. In that my initial investment has since multiplied, purchasing the goat was a wise investment. I purchased a second goat after receiving my transfer because of this reason. I have high hopes that the goats will proliferate and bring me wealth as a result. I'll sell some of the goats once they've multiplied to enormous numbers, using the proceeds to take care of my needs and lessen my son's burden."

"Firstly I will buy iron sheets and put on my roof so that when it rains I don't have to rush home and cover up delicates. I will also cement my house and buy food. Some money will be invested in goats since I only have chickens."

"When I receive this money, I would want to buy some domestic animals like goats and/or cattle that I would use to store my wealth. I know I still have five children to see through school and so my plan for the animals is to let them multiply so that I would be selling any time I'm in need of school fees. I personally didn't get any education, but I would love to change this for my children. I would also like to get a modern bed and some quality beddings."

"Since we moved to Sukutek Village, we're able to even relax unlike when we lived near Lake Bogoria. While living near the Lake, we were always worried of crocodiles either eating our children or goats. At the moment we're happy as this place is safe and also there are fewer snakes away from the Lake, hence our children, and animals are much safer."
