"I spent a portion of my third transfer on plastering my house which was initially very weak since it was made of mud. I also purchased bedding for myself since the ones I had had become so ugly and worn out. Lastly, I constructed an external kitchen to help me in cooking rather than cooking under a tree as was the case before."

"We (my spouse and I) used part of the third transfer on buying furniture because we didn't have any and we could sit on the ground. Since we do not have a house and we are currently staying in a rental house, we bought a few pieces of iron sheets that we have added to the building materials we already have and we have started building our house. We bought bedding so that we could replace our worn out bedding. I also used part of the money to buy an extra pair of school uniform my children."

"My wife is a potter, so she had to carry the pots to the market and given that we stay in a bit of a steep place, carrying the pots on her head was a bit hectic so, I boat a motorcycle that aids her in transporting these pots to the market. At least her work is now is easier. The remaining I spent on paying school fees for my child in secondary school."

"I spent my third transfer on 2 heifers for 27,000 KES and a he-goat for 3,000 KES.I also spent 5,000 KES to boost my charcoal selling business. I had started buying and selling charcoal with part of my second transfer (10,000 KES). I thank GD for support since before this, I had no capital at all and because of this I would from time to time hunt for and buy a tree, use a lot of energy to fell it myself, cut it to smaller logs myself, burn charcoal myself, pack it and then take it to the beach side where I do my sales. I had a lot of burn-out and this also meant that I could not have a steady supply of charcoal since the process would take long, worsened by the fact that I could only afford money for 1 tree at any one given time. Consequently, my income was low thus life was difficult for me. I am very grateful to GD since with part of the grant, I changed my strategy and now I manage to buy charcoal from wholesalers, which is easier on me, with the difference that I have supplies daily, I make more money and save more money. I also save my energy. Before GD, I used to surrender between 400 KES -800 KES as my savings in the Group pool twice a month. From the time GD supported me, I get to save a minimum of 1,500 KES-2,000 KES twice per month, and I know that as the savings get distributed to members in December, I will have a substantial amount of savings for myself. Also, as we talk right now I have 10 bags of unsold charcoal as stock, and a total of 4,500 KES, having surrendered 1,500 KES to my group as savings yesterday."

"I didn't have a house and I have been in staying in a rental house for many years so when I received my third transfer I used it to build my home. I'm now happy I have my home, I feel so free and independent. The money I used to spend on paying house rent I can now use in paying my children's school fees."

"I spent a portion of my third transfer on enrolling my son to a driving course. The son had been idling for the last 4 years since I could not afford to raise any more money for his education. Being a widow, all I could afford was a single in a day for the family, meaning that their education ended at that moment when they lost their father. In addition to the boy's fee, I paid part of my daughter's fee who was still in secondary school. I must attest that these transfers brought me a great change in life that I never expected. I must extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organisation for this far it has brought me."

"By the time I received my third transfer I didn't have any seats except for a stool so I used a larger portion of it to buy furniture so I do not borrow anymore from neighbors whenever I have visitors. I also used part of the transfer to buy both clothing and food for my children so that they could also look smart like other children."
