"I got married to this family in the year 1987, I gave birth to my first born in the year 1988. The joy of being married was not to last as it was cut short by the illness of my first son. He did not look well right from birth and this made me live in worry all that long. I had no support from my extended family and I just watched my son grow from worse to worst. At the age of two, my son could hardly walk. It is at this time that I gave birth to my second child who did not enjoy good health as well. My son lived for only seven years and passed on. This was not the end of my tribulations, I continued nursing my second child until he passed on at the age of two. This was coupled with my husband who at one time felt so sick too. That was the most difficult part of my life. I am however grateful that all the other children are in good health."

"In July 2015, my daughter in law got sick and was admitted to Tenwek Mission Hospital barely after she bore her first born child. She was diagnosed with low platelets count in he body. We had never seen such a condition of excessive bleeding before. It was strange. Everyone in our family was disturbed and drained both emotionally and financially. My son was jobless and therefore could not afford medication for his sickly wife. We had to sell household properties and do casual jobs everyday to settle a bill of Kshs 126,000. This is the biggest hardship I have faced in my life. "

"At the moment I have a half an acre farm of boma rhodes livestock feeds. Therefore receiving this amount of money means I am in a position to buy one more milking cow to make it two. Moreover, I have a vision of rearing up to 100 chicken in my compound. This kind of farming will change my life; I will not seek employment elsewhere. "
