How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was because I am able to meet most of my needs easily. I can remember when I used to look for jobs up and down only to be disappointed by the uncertainties of the nature of my job. Casual jobs are always unreliable. Today this has changed because I decided to start farming and poultry keeping with the transfer I got from GiveDirectly. I am now self-employed. This has taught me to face my challenges in business. Every day is a learning day is my motto.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to have 2000 birds. My orders increase on a daily basis and do not want to disappoint my clients. I have tenders in hotels and university and I also sell eggs locally. This will make me a reliable person and I will even get more clients from referrals from my current customers.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Having built a water reservoir has brought a big difference in my daily life. I had started venturing into farming when I had lost hope in looking for white-collar jobs. It had been a learning journey each and every day. I planted tomatoes, coriander, and vegetables. All these crops need water. This was the only challenge that I had to deal with first since we don't have water and we can't dig wells because one needs to dig several meters before one gets water. Today, I am a happy farmer because I have my reservoir and I can now supply my plants with enough water. I attribute my success to GiveDirectly.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the next six months is to concentrate on my business and ensuring I do all the necessary to make sure there is constant growth. Now that I have found my success in farming and poultry keeping I will feel good if I also employ my fellow youths so as to improve their living standards.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, my life is different from how it was before I started receiving help from Give Directly. I was able to establish my own business. I have a poultry farm and I have started selling hens from my own poultry farm. Previously, I could buy from other people and the profit was less compared to what I am getting now. Since I am keeping them by myself they are able to grow faster and they are healthier compared to the ones I have sold before. This makes them more appealing and marketable hence getting more money from the sells.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to invest in farming. I plan to plant watermelon and vegetables. I chose to plant these crops because the climatic condition and soil in this area are favorable for this kind of crops. I did thorough research and found out the best inputs to use and how to take care of them and so I am sure my crops will do well. This will earn me extra money and I will be able to settle most of my family's needs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life ever since I started receiving transfers from GiveDirectly is that I have been able to run my poultry farm with easy. I have managed to buy vaccines that would protect my birds against diseases. I was able to retain a good number of chicken as compared to the previous stock where most of them were cleared by diseases since I could not afford to immunize them due to lack of enough money. I am glad that I did not incur any loss this time round. I have also been able to easily buy their food. Doing all this was impossible before and that is why I was buying hens from other farmers at a higher price and reselling them but getting low profits. I am financially empowered and I am proud to supply to schools and hotels around our village.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that, I will have expanded my poultry farm. I will have added approximately 1000 hens. This simply means my income will increase when I sell them to my customers after they have grown healthier and bigger. Currently, I supply fewer hens to schools and hotels because I didn't have enough money to expand the business. I want to be a reliable person so that I can even get more orders from other people too that and this is why the thought of expanding the farm was the best option for me.
